Received 2 automated scam calls today from a female claiming to be from inland revenue.
Even left a message on my answering machine, saying me or my solicitor should call back immediately as this is a very time sensitive matter.
She then threatens if i don't call back there will be legal action taken.

So should i call 02031293857 ,:angry::mad:

Take no notice of it whatsoever, unless you are genuinely concerned then contact HMRC direct using genuine HMRC contact details and ask them if they know anything about these calls.

No. I've googled the number and it doesn't come up with anything.

If you want to put your mind at rest then find the number for the inland revenue and ring them. There should be a record of someone trying to ring you if there is a problem. If they really want to be in touch the IR are great writers of letters so I would expect them to contact you that way in reality. I would assume this is a scam of some sorts, default position unless proved otherwise.

I can't believe they actually had the cheek to leave a message, i already reported it to my phone company and going to inform police and HMRC.

Alternatively, if you give me your DOB, phone number and bank account no. inc. online login details, I'll phone them for you and sort it all out...

Scammers will mimic UK numbers so you think its a domestic call.

HMRC will always write.

Erase the message and delete the number from your phones record.

Its a scam, originating from a California number, that has used the same number for a number of different scams. I had one from the same number several months ago. I had great fun for about 15 mins, culminating in me asking them for their account number, PIN and DOB... the guy finished with something off, and put the phone down.

I'm usually pretty good at spotting these however the one I got today seems really genuine.

Earlier I had a call offering £250 cash or tickets to an Elvis tribute act: Press 1 for the money, or 2 for the show.

My wife posted the following on her FB account yesterday...

Answers phone...

Hello this is thomas, we want to refund the money you paid for your computer services
Me....I haven’t paid you any money
Yes madam you paid £392
Me....I’m not giving you my bank details so you can refund me.....if I’m owed a refund send me a cheque...
What way you want the cheque, sleeping or standing?
Me.....erm.....can you just post it?
No, I come to your house and we have sex and I give you the cheque......!!!!!

HMRC do not use cheap to phone regular landlines, they use lines that are expensive to call and keep you holding for ages to gain extra revenue.

I am not a rude person by nature, but cold calling grips my poo. Al bet 80 % of my calls are junk mail. Am even getting um on me mobile now. God knows how the old uns go on with them.

Call the number, if they answer in a reasonable time, it's not HMRC!!

(Do not call the number, that was my poor effort at a joke).

You're right ,I called HMRC this afternoon, message said about a 20 minute wait, but i could report it online. Ok but there doesn't seem to be an option [ that i could find ] to report an attempted fraud, on line.
