Tee's !!!!!!!!

Still being a relative newbie can some of you,shall i say more experienced of the golfing fraternity explain to me the 'stigma' of castle tees.

I dont understand why there is a need to dismiss something that helps us practically 18 shots every time we play.

Because if there is one thing that i hate is the amount of 'snapped' 'broken' 'discarded' wooden tees that are littered on every tee box up and down the land.We all moan about other players etiquette whether its talking or not repairing pitchmarks and as we all have our shot routines i must pick up 2 or 3 every time so they are not in my eyeline or periphal vision.

The one thing with plastic tees is 9/10 they are visible and we all pick them up and use again.....Sorry for the rant.

I don't have a problem with castles, I use a pink one for driving, always give me the same height without any thought, don't use castles for irons or other woods though., just a small plastic tee.

With a wooden tee I can dictate the height I have the ball, ie into the wind lower down. Wooden tees are bio-degradable I believe where as the plastic tees aren't.

Plastic tees are also more likely to mark and chip away at the club face too.

I was unaware that there was a stigma attached to castle tees.

Although I do not personally use them a lot of my FC's/PP's do, mainly for the height consistency.

I don't use them but know many who do from very low to high handicappers.
No stigma from me just a personal preference that's all.

they were seen as something beginners used,i have never used them preferring yellow striped wooden ones for the driver and broken ones for the rest.

I discovered that all my shots were coming off the top half of the driver so I identified the castle tee which gave me a strike off the sweet spot & now stick to that. Pity it's a pink one, mind you! I don't believe in teeing lower into the wind, it just encourages you to hit down on the ball & create more backspin.

You do realise the top half -middle- of the driver is the sweetspot!

Don't use them myself but my wife does. Tee height's gonna be consistent, but no use for short iron into a par 3

I refuse to play golf with anybody using castle tees.
I think they sum up everything that is currently wrong with this great game.

Pretty much the same here. Was a bit sniffy about them but most of my regular playing partners used them and it just seemed so obvious really. Didn't use impact tape but a bit of experimenting resulted in pink turning out best for me too. Definitely felt more confident knowing the ball was teed up just right.

Don't think they mark the faces more than wood or at least not to any great extent.

Now need to get some of those rubber cones tied together with string for when the winter mats come out

Not everyone picks up castle tees and not everyone leaves wooden ones. I have no issue with castle tees (apart from the fact I would never use them) I just don't buy the "consistent tee height" theory. Sure, it would be consistent if every tee box was perfectly level and smooth, but it isn't. Also, wooden tees allow me to easily adjust the height if I want to.
