I've been a long term user of teeofftimes so was surprised and a touch disappointed to find that a booking fee of £1 per player is now being added, so potentially the best part of a fiver added to the cost of a four ball.

I'm guessing it's connected with the site being sold to Golf Now by Golfbreaks, but can't help but be put off by this new charge.

The twighlight rates I tend to book are often available directly with the club so this booking fee effectively turns teeofftimes into a paid for service.

Am I just being a bit tight or is this new charge, potentially more than 10% on some of the cheapest rates, a bit cheeky?

Hmmm... bad timing for them! I'm about to book two four-balls through work and had been looking through TeeOffTimes, although I didn't know about the new booking fee.

I'll see if I can book direct cheaper now given the groupsize

It is an irritation that's for sure. Why not just add that to the cost of the green fee rather than keep it separate? These types of charges create bad feeling towards a company and so are bad pr.

I was annoyed with myself for not comparing prices last time I booked with TeeOffTimes. I could have booked direct with the club for the same price but without the booking fee. OK, it's only a three quid saving for a three-ball but that's a pint... for one of us!

You are being a bit tight. If £1 is more than 10% of the green fee, you are getting exceptionally cheap golf!

Doesn't really matter does it? Check with tee off times and compare the cost of that versus going direct and just choose the cheapest. If tee off means it's more expensive because of their booking fee ultimately they lose out don't they.

It's always better to go direct to the club so that they don't lose out on the commission that is paid towards teeofftimes. These services although great for us are pretty damning for the golf club who lower their prices to compete with other courses.

The golf clubs can afford it. If they can't then they need to have a look at their business model.

Golf clubs are closing all the time so giving away money to websites like teeofftimes really isn't ideal. Sure they can look at their business model and you're right they should be able to afford it but teeofftimes take a good amount of money for the tee times they sell.
