Hi Guys

played in lombard quailifier yesterday,

normally use orange castle tee with driver, however after a few high drives
that shape either straight or a slight fade i changed to the next lower height tee.

i then was hitting the ball with a slight draw, coincidence or is there any reason why this was happening ? CONFUSED

oh and by the the way i won the qualifier and now into regional finals Woooootttttt !!!

I never tee up at the height all the magazines and coaches advise you to (half the ball above the club)

I have a quarter of the ball showing above the club - this gives me a lower ball flight, and it flies straight as an arrow without slicing, every time.

Well worth playing around with tee height.

I'm allowing for a little exaggeration on your part in this statement :D

To the OP, A fade\draw is caused by the relation of the club face to the swing path so I would be surprised if the tee height alone was making this happen

I had a lesson on Saturday and my pro did this for me, he told me I have a tendency to lean back slightly when driving this opens the club face up slightly giving me a fade, once he lowered the tee so a quarter of the ball was showing I had to hit through and all my drives were straight or drawing, I was amazed that tee height could influence it that much with very little adjustment.

you are probably making some small sub-conscious changes to the swing in relation to the tee height. its much easier to slice the ball if its perched up with loads of room to come from the outside / inside I suppose.

I tee the ball up pretty high. theres also lots of movement in my drives.

I tee it with around half the ball above the club head but when ever I try "the tee it high to hit it further " as per advice in mags all I do is slice it wildly but if I put it too low I thin it and trim the Daisy's

I have always used the pink castle tees with the driver but have seen some guys using the white castle which is next one down

Club loft must play a part and the angle of approach into the ball i.e more weight on rear foot at set up feeling hitting up

Definitely worth working out what works best for you in the various situations you may encounter.

Smacked it 300 off a Grey tee and a following breeze on Saturday - 250 with a punched drive off a white one in the opposite direction. Normally use pink or higher. Quite often drop-kick, so higher is probably better for me!
