Ted Baker Golf

Ted Baker is usually very expensive anyway... if it's anything like their top range clothes (not the naff socks or tshirts etc you get at christmas) it will be excellent quality. I'd class it closer to RLX than topman

You couldn't make it up !!!! Have you seen some of the clobber they're churning out for ridiculous prices ? It'll be TopMan and Primark next !!

Ted Baker is a designer brand on its own though, just like Lacoste & Boss, not sure how you can associate it to high street low end brands like TopMan & Primark?

It's just me , but i've always seen Ted Baker as a wannabe brand, Paul Smith lite if you like . For me it's nowhere near Lacoste and Boss more like Next for me but each to their own. Moving on , here's a snapshot of some of their lines. What do we think ???

Unfortunately pictures can't give you an impression of the quality of the product.

As for Paul Smith, that for me is above Lacoste & Boss, I have a lot of PS clothes including a suit that unfortunately I can't get into any more and cost me a small fortune some years ago, some PS shoes I have are the best I've ever owned.

I don't mind Ted Baker as a brand, but most of their clothes don't suit me. I do have a Ted Baker wallet which I think is great quality and has lasted about 6 years with everyday use. Extremely overpriced golf gear though and can confidently say I would never ever pay that much.

If you work for them they do a 95% off day in their office once a quarter i think it is. They just line up boxes upon boxes of clothes etc and everyone goes nuts. Not sure if this is something nice to do for their employees or it is the stuff that they haven't managed to sell.

I find anything Ted Baker tends to be cut for the more "snake like" body. Anything "normal" just doesnt get into it without streesing the seems:)

some good looking stuff they've got there. seems a bit overpriced though.

then there's the hideous gear you wouldn't give a £ for

Just to put you all to right on clothing line status. From bottom to top from the one listed. (non golf specific of course)

Primark (the lowest of any brand)
Topman (only for under 25's anyway)
Next (for everyone over 25's but be careful with your choice, some of their stuff is hideous)
Paul Smith / Ted Baker
Lacoste
Boss

If you want to know where any more makes rank in the list let me know ;)

Where would you stick CK, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger? up with Boss?

I have owned Boss suits and they are dreadful, Paul Smith make a nice suit and shoes as Fish said. Ted baker suits are awful too. The suits i wear now come from Debenhams and cost under 200quid. You would not know to look at me. Its all about the fit and the cut. Anyone can make an expensive piece of clothing look dreadful.

For me, the best polo shirt out there is a Ralph. You can not beat the quality and the cut. I do like a Tommy casual shirt and CK make some great knitwear.

Ralph= Boss
Both are above CK and Hilfiger

Golfwise the best clothing brand is J Lindeberg in the premium category. Then Ralph, Boss. Then golf companies- GG, Footjoy. Then sport companies- Adidas, Nike.

If you are talking suits the only place to go is Slaters. You can get a reasonable quality suit with shirt tie and shoes for £100. Or you can pay a grand. And every suit is tailored and altered for you with a lifetime guarantee. I took suits back after 6 years and got them re altered, for free.

Next week I'll cover how to match stripes with spots.....

Off topic as this is a golf clothing thread but i'll take the bait !!!! You really cannot bracket Paul Smith and Ted Baker together. That's beginner's logic.

To be honest most of my suit come from Next and like you say wih Debenhams they're cost effective and hardly look any different. Plus as they're so cheap they don't wear out much if you have a few.

Ralp polos are good, I have a couple but I prefer Gant and Boss for mine.

Id say both brands very similar and are for 40+ blokes, I'll be there in two years so I'll let you know if I'm correct :)
At this point in time I wouldn't wear either, except for boxers or socks. Most Ted Baker stuff is floral print anyway! Oh I've actually got a nice leather Ted belt on today.
