Just watching the Turkish manager passing his phone to the 4th official showing video footage of Kane offside when he scored. If technology is that quick why are we not using it, and was he wrong in doing it.

I hope he wasn't illegally streaming it, LP would be very angry!!

Football is the sporting world's chief luddite when it comes to technology. Part of me wonders if the powers that be actually like all the controversies and arguments created by not embracing technology so the sport continues to garner the most headlines.

Was the Turkey manager not aware that it was a meaningless friendly?

I'm against technology in football. Don't see the point of it.

Then you will be forever in the dark. Any high profile sport has installed and embraced every bit of tech stuff the is available. Technology is THE thing that drives us forward. I hope that, one day, this type of thing will actually stop a game, as the manager of the offended team marches on to the pitch to the ref to dispute his decision using his phone and technology.

Football had better change and embrace this tecknowledgey stuff before scenario actually happens.

If you are thinking 'technology' will eradicate all errors in refereeing then you are thinking wrong...

It certainly hasn't in rugby...
So true yet it has slowed up the game enormously, waiting for the try decision from upstairs in some of the internationals is ridiculously slow, rugby (union) is slow enough with penalty kicks taking minutes already giving overweight forwards far too much rest. Re football the goal line technology is enough in my view, if offside in football is a touch and go decision I'm happy the attacking team gets a break occassionally because so many offisdes are wrongly given in favour of the defending team. The interfering with play factor is more difficult but its never going to be perfect and as someone said creates discussion/controversy.

Ah, the age old riposte. Any sensible advocate of technology knows that perfection wont be achieved but, rather, a vast improvement.

Is said "vast improvement" worth the aggravation?

Will it improve the game for when I wander over the road to watch the 'Boro or cross town to see the 'Stones?...

Think I'll just end up spending more time in the bar...

Would England's players have put up with the aggravation of technology if it meant Lampard's goal counted in the 2010 World Cup?

(Cue the inevitable response of not caring about England)

About as much as they'd have endured the aggravation of 1966 goal not counting!;)

We are in a really bad situation at the moment, where it is possible for 90% of the crowd to know for certain that the referee has made a mistake, where as the referee doesn't really know. If it is available to the dug outs it has to be used to assit the referee's otherwise you are only asking for heated exchanges between managers and officials, it also creates the possibility of a referee becoming aware of a mistake and trying to even things up.

I think the technology should only be used for things where there is a definite stop in play like a goal, free kick or penalty.
