Hi Hackers.
I am lucky enough to play quite often at my favourite hobby.
In my earlier days I enjoyed most of the team games, soccer, cricket etc.
I was surprised to find the great pleasure obtained by playing the traditional
game of golf, i.e. a individual against the course.
I have the pleasure of playing with other seniors ,sadly quite a number of them
insist on playing only team games which to me are Mickey Mouse raffle type affairs.
I wonder if any Forum members think it is worth my while trying to convert these players
to play occasional traditional golf.

Comments or advice please.

What team games are theses

And is this in swindle rolls ups ?

Mickey Mouse raffles ?!?

I will be out for a cheeky round later on my own and will enjoy(hopefully) a quiet course and time to work on areas of my game i am not happy with. In the week however i will be out with my mates and will enjoy the banter and company so i am happy with either.

During the summer we only play medals, but since we have officially turned the course over to 'winter' it's all 4bbb or, as yesterday, foursomes!

It was actually quite fun and different, no pressure, which was a good job as my PP had a raging hangover!!

I do miss the pressure of HC chasing though!

Golf for me is about me vs the course, I don't mind the odd pairs game for a bit of fun but the individual competition is what I thrive on. I think the reason I suck at match play is because I don't have the right mindset for it, and it's probably subconciously the same reason that I am always rubbish at betterball (sorry Homer, hopefully your new partner will bring you more success :D)

Is the OP talking about roll ups or swindles where it's either 2 for 3 or 3 from 4 type games at some roll ups ?

And surely the best method is what the majority want to play

he did mention seniors , maybe they have lost interest in handicap chasing golf .. loadsa individual golf out ther , why even try change the others from what they obvioiusly happy doing

Yep that it seems like to me

Plenty of chances at clubs to play individual games

As a senior who still plays at least 2 individual h/c comps every week during the season , so i enjoy the odd change in format.
There's extra pressures playing in team events , as the Yanks have discovered.

Same in life, a change is as good as a holiday.

If it's golf then I'll play in it.
I prefer not to play foursomes as you're only playing half a round but any other format is fine with me.

You were the mainstay and I'll genuinely miss playing pairs with you. Adam and me have a prelim in the winter knockout against Ian Stephen and John Munday so a grudge there with little love lost on either side. With no golf this weekend it could be an interesting introduction for the new partner
