Has anybody else tried the Taylormade Speedblade, I tried it at a fitting just the other day and I kid you not it went miles, I can honestly say a monster I was hitting 7iron constantly 12-15 yards further than my current club.

Has anyone else any feed back as I am seriously considering some new sticks?

yes I believe it did, I have never been fitted club for club, but I would look at a shot and expect a 7iron to go 149 and a 6iron to go 154, the Speedblade was over 160..... As I said massive

Fair enough I suppose. As long as you are aware that the length is due to a lighter, longer shaft and cranked lofts , and are happy with that then crack on.

149 and 154 is an oddly specific estimate for your 7 and 6. Really only 5 yards between them ?

It's not just the distance - which is impressive.

What was the dispersion for shots from 140-160+ range?

To me, it doesn't really matter what the number is on the sole of the club. It's how far away from the pin the ball is when I get to putt!

The dispersion was not to bad, but I can be a little erratic, I am hoping to get a proper crack with them when time allows over the next few weeks I will let you know the outcome.

I was taught the averages as a junior a long time ago, and my 7 has always gone 145-150 so I just work up from that. (so not to specific just what I was taught ) Sorry.

I'd say they have done a clever marketing job on you. As already said, it's the loft that you need to compare, comparing the distance hit by 7 irons between a modern set of clubs and an older one is mostly pointless as they are different specs. And I imagine you will get much the same distances from a 7 iron from all the latest iron models by the major manufacturers. But then again, if they work for you then go for it.

They go the same distance as any club with the same loft and length.... If your after new clubs great, if your after new clubs because these seem long maybe dont bother... IMO

I gamed these for a couple of months and the 7 iron is a monster with a nice high ball fight! but issue is its over 20 yards longer than the 8 iron, which did nothing for my game.

5* difference between the 8 iron and the 7 iron.... Eek

On another note 20* 4 iron... OMG!!!

time to start ignoring the number on the bottom of clubs these days and think of them as your 120yrd, 130yrd, 140 etc etc etc... My 7 iron is probably lower loft than most peoples 6 irons, do i care no? i know i hit it X distance, that's all that matters! What my playing partner hits has zero relevance to my game.

I've read loads on here about cranked lofts with Taylormade, and assumed some of it was just that people didn't like TM for various reasons and decided to moan about anything & everything.
But I've just compared my 7 iron loft with the Speedblade 7 iron loft. There's 4.5* difference, my AP2 (710) are 35* and the TMs are 30.5*. So my 7 iron is the same loft as the TM 8 iron.
Unbelieveable Jeff:confused:

I hit a mates Speedblade wedge down the range the other day. Compared to my wedge his was 3* stronger loft with at least a half inch longer shaft. As soon as I put the club behind the ball I knew that the loft was massively different to my own wedge. (Mine 48* Speedblade 45*). In reality it was just a 9 iron with a 'W' on the bottom, course it will go further.

This distance gain by decreasing iron lofts cannot go on for much longer. If it does there will be no club that you can hit full that will only go 100 yards or less. Trying to "feel" a shot from 100 yards or less with a club that goes 120/130 would be a nightmare. My 52* gap wedge goes 98 yards exactly.
