Taylormade SLDR review

I have never owned a TM driver, this one looks interesting, but I am sure that next Feb it will be replaced ... I can only imagine that anyone buying their gear will get frustrated with the turn over of the equipment. Doing this detracts from what could be a good driver. Also you have to question whether they have made any significant developments.

having owned 9 of their drivers, from the very first Pittsburgh Persimmon, over the last few decades I have never been frustrated by this at all.

even the slightest thought will see the stupidity of such an argument - so you buy any driver, someone, somewhere, will bring out a new one the next day, and the next, then the next.......so what? Personally I've not bought an Anser, a 913, and X-Hot or an RBZ, R1 or SLDR (yet :)) let alone the other 600 drivers that have come out since my last purchase.

what is frustrating is continually reading such tosh.

Time and time again this argument comes up, does it matter really? If you're happy with your driver it makes no difference. If you have to have the newest shiniest thing well you pay the price.

however its perfect for the GM moaners who have nothing better to post......or original.....look at the Solheim cup thread.......its the same people with the same moans

Not the best review tbh, been better if he'd hit it on trackman & played around with the slider.
As for TM releasing new equipment, isn't it the same with anything we buy-TVs,mobile phones & any other Golf manufacturer. It's part of life.

What I find interesting is a little comparison,TM are saying the weight nearer the front makes for better launch conditions,my R7 superquad has the heavy weights at the front and the light ones inte rear,I feel like 've got a modern diver now!

I agree. When a new driver is released it won't stop the one you have from continuing to work.

Unfortunately people like new things....so if Taylormade said after the R11, for example, "that's as good as we can do, we're not releasing any more drivers" they would lose out to PING, Callaway etc.

Saw them in our pro shop yesterday. I think thy look like the old r 5/ r 7 at address.... At the end of the day if your in the market for a new driver then go get fitted and try as many as you can and if the numbers are best on this new SDLR then buy it :)
Everybody loves a new shiney ;)

Mark Crossfields Review if any ones interested.

Thank you for posting that, I thought it was interesting that he mentioned it felt quite a heavy driver which some people may prefer. That was certainly the case for me in that for the two years that I've been playing, I've had two TM drivers and much preferred the heavier feel of the RBZ compared to the Burner. The great thing about TM clubs is that because they have this high product turnover, you know that you can usually buy "last years model" at half the price. The reason I've had two drivers in such a short time is a reflection of the improvements in my game rather than having the latest and greatest. I bought both drivers new (last years) and paid £110 for the Burner, sold it for £85 and bought the RBZ Tour TP for £140 which I'm really happy with. I certainly wouldn't entertain paying £300 for a driver especially as I believe the putter is a much more important club. I don't believe there is a massive leap in technology annually but I do think you would see a big difference in products manufactured say five years apart.

He misses one small thing from this review... Whether the bloody thing actually works!!!

Can't believe he didn't see if he could go from a draw to a fade with a slide of the weight. I doubt it though.

Ill pass on this one thanks and the £299 price tag is ridiculous!

Yep you can't moan that your club is superceded, it's like buying a new car, it's only new until you drive it out the showroom

The only issue I have is the marketing guff we are asked to swallow. The bigger/straighter/squarer/whiter etc is nonsense !!!

Saw them in Silvermere yesterday. On the ground they look no different to many other drives out there now they've gone back to a dark colour. Not sure by the technology, which I know Mizuno for one have already done. If the R1 was suppose to be the next revolution it was pretty short lived
