Hi guys,

Anyone owned one of the above. I was messing about on ebay and found myself bidding for one at £21. Still 3 hrs to go on the auction.

Wondering if it's any good and what I should bid up to if at all?

Says its got a TAYLORMADE ULTRALITE S-90. Anyone know if this is a stiff shaft?

Any help much appreciated.

S-90 was the bubble shaft, it may have also been retained for later models but I didn't think it was.
Overall the club is worth what someone would pay for it - I gave away most of mine from that era although I still have at least one driver with an S-90 as a reference. It has no inherent value.

As to stiffness - the shaft is heavy rather than stiff in today's terms; think 'solid'.

I wouldnt recommend it relative to a Burner 09 model with a standard reax 50 shaft which should be available for that sort of money on ebay with a little care.

My first 'big headed' Driver - though it was really only a 360cc one! It also had the bright yellow and purple Proforce 65 shaft rather than the 90-S one. I actually had those in my LCG irons at the time. Great for irons(at the time) but not the best for woods, though the range wasn't really there at that time - Accra and a few others changed that within a couple of years!

It was actually THE Driver that made Taylormade the force it is now but nearly didn't make it to market - they figured no-one would want such an 'enormous' head! At least that's the story I've heard from some folk who I would expect to know.

Worth using as a bit of a memorabilia, but there are better ones available for not much more money R540/580 can be good (if conforming). R510TP (not the non-TP) is still a classic!
