Have just returned from my local club and whilst there have been offered a brand new taylormade tour burner at what i consider a very good price.I currently use an R7 but its very hit and miss,so was thinking of taking up the offer but wanted to check if any of you on here have one or have used one lately, any feedback would be appreciated, its the 10.5 deg stiff shaft model,cheers..

Ive hit one at the range before when testing drivers. Very impressed but again, this is hit and miss - even more so than the r7 IMO. If you're hit and miss at driving the normal burner is the way to go - 08 or 09 doesn't really matter.

Hi bob as i said earlier its hit and miss and if anything when its going wrong i tend to miss fairways to the right, which i have had a couple of lessons for, however the main problem i find with the r7 is the distance i get as im only hitting the driver as far as my 3 wood, which i do hit pretty well and probably on a good day like at whittington can get it out to 280 yards,so if i could get a driver i really like maybe the 300 yard plus barrier could be broken and the handicap could come a little further down, hoping to get down to 5 this year.i know some of you will say 280 and still not happy but its just frustrating and i think a good driver might just help a little..finally no i have not tried it yet but hope to over the next few days or so...

Very optimistic i know but the golf and the scoring is very good at the minute so even if i can gain a little i will be happy, always told to set your sights high,we will see!!!

As as anside try the R7 Limited. I was desperate for a TM dirver and was hitting the Tour regularly at my local AG to the point where they'd tape one up as I walked in. I was getting good distance but found a lot of balls going right too mostly as blocks but the odd high fade. I tried the normal burner (08 and 09) models and hit it better but the flight was too high.

In the end I got lucky and GM gave me an R7 LImited as recompence for the work on the magazine and it is a standard 10.5 with regular shaft and as a short hitter it has added 10 yards and more accuracy than ever before.

I'd say, try it out and see how you go.

Pros....good head, GREAT shaft
Cons....long shaft and possible inconsistency similar to what you have.

Dunno, you and me don't play the same game.

Tour Burner is an awesome club.

I just picked one up second hand as I loved the shape of the head and will swap the shaft over with my current driver. I find that I hit it high and it produces a long carry.
