I'm in the process of choosing a driver and would like try out a few TM's and be fitted properly. They have such a good selection it is hard to know what to choose. I've tried AG, but they just dont have all the flavours and they wanted to get me off the machine asap.

There was a demo day near me on Sunday, but sadly I had to miss it.

Does anyone know the demo tour details or can recommend a very good place for a custom fit in or near Berkshire.

Appreciate it. Thanks

I can't see them being too regular at this time of year- they are mostly a spring / summer event.

Your best bet is to find a Taylormade authorised fitter- they all now have a cart with something like 100 possible different driver combinations available which is good enough for most people, find one with a launch monitor and you're sorted!

According to the TM website there are no more demo days in 2008 and no dates scheduled for 2009. The site gives a list of the UK retailers but doesn't show if these are authorised fitters. My advice would be to call head office (near Basingstoke if memory serves) and get them to help you out.

I had a great time at the demo day on Sunday and was impressed about how much data the guy recorded and how much time he spent going through the results of each specification change and showing how it impacted on the shot.

Out of interest Colin I'd be keen to know which AG you went to. I went to AG in Slough and they were pretty good with me on their launch monitor. I use to be mates with the guy who ran AG at Birds Hill in Maidenhead (he has since moved into golf holidays and is currently wintering in Spain selling golf holidays). The new manager seems to know his stuff but is a tad too pushy for my liking.

I got fitted for a 2009 model Burner in 10.5 degree with a slightly firmer than R (but not standard stiff) but for some reason I just didn't feel 100% comfy after my fitting session and wasn't quite getting the shots I wanted so I kept my credit card tucked away. To be fair to the TM guy he even got me to hit a few more and rechecked the specs to see if there was anything else he could tweak.

I have been coveting a TM driver for a while (certainly since I got my tour burner irons) but they just don't seemto fit my swing. That said the hybrids were very much up my street and considering some options on that front especially as the whole forum seems to be looking at new sticks.

I know what you mean about the new sticks thing Homer- sort of like comfort spending to get us through the winter months :D . Everyone seems to be purchasing something- I was happy with my new skycaddie but may have to look at some wedges now just to get some new clubs.

I wouldn't want to be left out... ;)

(Sorry to digress!)

It was the AG in Camberley, to be fair to them I think there was somebody else waiting. However, he already told me the TM R7 was the best club before we even started, I did it hit well, but no real difference to the Burner.

I have since been to the driving range ( Downshire ) they had a burner with a stiff shaft, which I hit well. Unfortunately no r7 to try.

I'm sure if I bought either one, I would be fine. But I just feel like I am missing out on getting measured properly for it.

Perhaps I'll have a trip over to Birds Hill and see if they have both and I can spend a little more time on it.

One thing is for sure, I get a much better flight shape with a stiff shaft than I do with my Big Bertha 460 regular.

Cheers.

If you go back to AG in Camberley ask for Greg as he is ex Birds Hill and a pretty decent guy. If you go back to Downshire ask to try some different clubs as I think they have various demo models in the teaching bay.

The good thing about AG at Bird Hills is that you can try it on the rang e(£1=20 balls) so at least you get to see the ball flight etc.

I'd still be tempted to give TM a call directly and see where the nearest authorised fitter is. That way if you have your heart set on a TM driver you know it will be fitted correctly and not by some poorly trained shop boy leading to a potentially expensive mistake
