Taxi and Mini cabs!
I had to go to Manchester on Business yesterday with a colleague to visit an Advertising Agency near Oldham. We got black cab from outside terminal 3 ad gave them the address. The guys spoke hardly if any English and it took about 10 mins for him to find our destination on his GPS, which he then used to guild him there.
When we had out meeting were then going to go on to a Casino in East Didsbury as the Agency has a deal with them so we could hang out there and my colleague had never been in a casino and wanted to try it.
We had a local min cab called to take us there and were told where we wanted to go. When the cab turned up I gave him the address to the driver, he didn’t speak a word of English except “post code†.
The guy had no idea where we wanted to go or how to get there!!!
So we got out of the cab.
I remember London Cabbies used to do a thing called the “knowledge “ but that’s not the case for Black cabs in Manchester by the looks of it.
You would think a basic knowledge of an area was a minimum to get a job as a taxi driver????
