I'm organising a 4-ball for a Monday in a few weeks time after a stag do and looking for help in finding a decent course in the Taunton area.

It's a ex-university pal so we're from different areas and heading off either up the M5 to the Midlands or down the A303 to London, so a course that isn't too far from both of these would be preferred.

Can someone with some local knowledge point me in the direction of a couple of clubs that would allow visitors for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance

Best course close to Taunton is Burnham and Berrow by a country mile. You also have Enmore which is OK and Taunton and Pickeridge (not played it) which is supposed to be OK too. Going up the A303 you pass close by Yeovil (again OK) and Sherborne which is quite nice.

I enjoyed Taunton & Pickeridge when I played it on the way to Saunton Sands, very friendly club and some good holes, I didn't like Oak Manor, the course was OK but I didn't feel welcome, even though there were loads of us spending money.

I live in Taunton and I am member of Taunton & Pickeridge. Greens were hollow tined last Thursday so given a couple weeks I'd like to think the course will be in tip top shape! Obviously I'd recommend playing my home track but other courses in the area I would recommend would be:

Burnham & Berrow (Links Course on the sea front): About 30 minutes away north on the M5 from Taunton.
Yeovil Golf Club (Park Land): Nice course, again about 30 minutes away from Taunton via the A303.

Oake is a nice track, but I'd say if you were to choose between Oake and Pickeridge I would say Pickeridge is a nicer track.

Taunton & Pickeridge gets the vote from me for obvious reasons. Oake Manor is ok, as is Enmore.
I'd say our club is bit more interesting than the other two.
