...or should that be 'target me'...

Played a round on Monday night and for the first time ever got hit by a ball. Nothing serious but scared the crap out me when a ball hit my belt from behind....6 holes later (this time with a shout) a ball landed about a foot away from me...

Tonight however, I really did get lucky. Our 5th is uphill with the green sitting in front of the 6th tee box. The green has a bank at the back which normally catches anything long. Not tonight. I tee'd off last in our 4-ball and as I was putting my driver back in the back something flashed past my face and I heard my bag rustle. On looking down I found a ball in my webbed side pocket of my bag!!!

Had I been a foot to the right I don't think I'd be typing this! Didn't hear a shout but forgave the guy who hit it as it's impossible to see where a ball lands from the fairway due to the lip of the green. I feel like I'm in Final Destination and am dodging the reaper at the mo!! :o

Got hit in the chest by Jarmo Sandelin's ball at the Forest of Arden years ago. I think it's the 11th, uphill. The caddies wait halfway up as that's close to the 10th green. I waited with them and watched the players tee off. Jarmo's ball started in our direction and I had it in my sights all the way, it wasn't going to hit me - until it bounced and kicked 45 degrees right, thudded into my chest and finished lodged in a hole behind a tree. Jarmo's caddie gave me a glove and advised that I should move on as their Employer wouldn't be best pleased when he got there!
Closest shave with death was at the Brit Masters a few years back at the Belfry. James Kingston tee'd off and tried to cut a corner, hit some trees shortly after take-off and the ball went straight left. Unfortunately that's exactly where I was.
The ball whooshed past my face - I felt the breeze! - clattered into the scoreboard behind me and went back towards the tee, narrowly missing the other side of my face.

Had to have a lie down after that one.

Never really come close to being hit on the course whilst playing though....

I've been hit on the back of the neck. That was not too bad pain wise.

I've been hit on the back. That was feckin sore.

I've been hit on the side which left a golf ball sized bruise for over three weeks. That was rather sore as it was a driver from about 70 yards away.

I've been hit on the thigh, again that was sore, bruise and ball impression was left on my thigh.

Thankfully not been hit now for a few years.

I with someone who got hit by his own ball at the driving range. He got right underneath his shot and it went straight up and hit the roof then came back down and hit him!!

I was hit by a sliced driver from about 50 yards. It hit the top of my shoulder/lower neck. I remember being stood next to the buggy. Then lying on the floor, looking at the sun. The lump that came up was impressive. As was the amount of drinks the bar after the round. 2 inches higher and it would have broken my jaw. 6 inches higher and the damage could have been perm......what was I talking about?

So you've stopped playing golf with HID ?

Forgave him? Why? If you hit the ball and you can't see where it's gonna land, you shout Fore, especially if it's heading towards a part of the course where you could reasonably expect people to be, like a tee box.

I almost got hit by one of my clubs longest and most powerful hitters!

He was playing on the hole going the opposite way into a headwind. He carved it high right and fading, it must have stalled in the wind as it dropped out of the sky like a stone, landed about 3 feet from me and rolled backwards about a foot or so! Scared the hell out of me, if that had dropped on my head it would have been quite serious!

Was playing over the school fields once as a kid (about 9 yr old I guess) and was stood too close behind my mate as he was swinging.....his follow through came right round and clubface right in the middle of my forehead, was claret everywhere . I still blame that incident for my current state of mind now :D

Used to caddie alot as a kid at the addington, and there are two holes where the caddies wait for the players to play back across,

waiting between the 9th & 10th, one of the guys in our 4 ball shout fore, i had lost the sight of the ball in low sun, crouched and covered the top of my head rather like a crash position on plane, 1st pitch took the sting out of the drive buy CRACK!!!! straight in the back of the head. Laid down for 5 mins, a bit dizzy with a huge lump, the guy i caddies for told me to go in but i insisted on carrying on. so with 1 bump and a big head ache on we went.

Waiting between 14 & 15 on the caddies hump and still a biz dazzed i hear "fore" no no no not again, crouch, cover the bump on the back of my head, Pitch.... CRACK!!!!! hit me square in the head on the part id protected on the previous shout.

Again the players in the group insisted i go in but we carried on, both players who hit me gave me an extra 20.00 each so i walked off with 2 egg shaped lumps, massive head ache and concussion, and £55.00.

Now the best bit was a year later i started suffering with epileptic fits, one of the known causes of epilepsy according to web searches ive done is large impacts to the head. I now really do wonder if 2 consecutive hits to the head in less than an hour from drives that had only pitched once could be the cause of it......

At The manor In Drighlington the 1st and 10th go alongside either side of the driving range. Had a few near misses with sliced/hooked range balls landing close by whilst walking down the fairways but luckily never been hit. I'd be gobsmacked if nobody has ever been hit on one if not both of those holes though. Next time I play knowing my luck Ill end up getting one to the noggin!

A little South African guy hit me right on the knuckle whilst I was playing The Old Course earlier this month.

As if The Road Hole isnt hard enough, try doing it with a numb right hand.

My regular partner pull hooked a rescue club which was going straight at my face. I turned my face away as I saw it coming at its fastest and luckily it dipped a little and it hit me on the chest right on the heart area - I had a bruise the size of a dinner plate!

His reaction - why didn't you deflect it back on the fairway!

(he did care really)
