Hi

In response to the How Many? post, I was just wondering if anyone have any grand plans or huge goals?

I don't think they can get any grander than this made trip by two Kiwis!

My aim, is first to get into Med School, but then A levels, and then golf, unfortunately in third place this year… :( :(

However, hopefully I should be able to visit some more places, just not as many as this year!!

My aim is to get perhaps 1 or 2 real big ones and rather than do lots. Perhaps as a reward for exams/offers/end of school etc.

TOP TARGETS one or more of:

Turnberry (Main Goal)
St Andrews (Old) (Golf and University!)
Royal Lytham and St Annes (I know a member's son)
Muirfield (Society Trip)
Swinley Forest (A potential society trip on the cards!)
Beau Desert (Only 5 minutes from relatives houses and close to me too!)

Trying to find out if my In-laws know anyone who's a member at Hoylake - they only live a few miles down the road.
Failing that :-
Ashridge
Bearwood
Wentworth - if Fragger can get to 18 (no chance there then..)
and a few other decentish courses that are not too far from home.

Whatever ones come free from playing ulster cup and Jimmy Bruen.

and

Lough Erne
Royal Portrush
Concra wood

Just depends on whether the fellas at the gc want to play, I can play RP as I have a friend who is a member and should have played it by now, but work keeps getting in the way :(

There's loads of courses on my 'to do' list for next year (or this year);
Hunstanton
Royal West Norfolk
Cromer
Sheringham
Thetford
Woburn
Forest of Arden
Plenty of others to.

Played Ashridge early this year on a 2 for 1 deal, made the cost just about doable(though it was a gift in this case)and it was beautiful. Bearwood you know I love, I could play it every day for ever more.

Depending on my shift pattern for next year i'd like to play the Royal Aberdeen Open ,i've always missed it ,but definately on the list are:-
Machrihanish (again)
Machrihanish Dunes
Portsalon
Rosapenna
Portstewart Strand (again).
All links courses ,you can't beat them :)

Fabian if I ever get a thing called overtime again, I'll gladly join you at Prestwick to see how its done.

I would like to try and get onto Montrose Medal for a game. There's a forumer who keeps promising me a game there through his work mates but has always failed to deliver!!!! (look at the post above me for a hint!)

I have driven past Powfoot a few times and never stopped, only ever heard good things about it so think that must be sampled. I will also get down to Goswick this year as again I've only ever heard good things about the course and it's time to see dodger on a golf course, he drinks and dances like a girl so if his golf is like that its easy money!

Montrose Medal
Powfoot
Goswick
Tain & Golspie with Patrick
Pitreavie with Grumps (just invited myself!)

The first 2 will be handicap dependent, I need to be playing off 3 at least to get into the open events here:

Sunningdale (New)
St Georges Hill

and:

Bearwood Lakes (If it comes up as Trilby Tour venue again)

You not wrong there Craw!! We will get sorted some time. ;)

Me? Got to be a few new ones on the radar,Elie,a few in the Czech Republic but that is dependant on where the tour heads next year, been Portugal last 2 but your pound goes way further in Prague as I have just found out.I could fancy West Linton and Lanark as I have heard they are nice and would also like to sort out a wee jolly to Saunton to play there again and combine it with Burnham & Berrow. :)

It's all about finding time though.

Hopefully will get to play St Andrews Old and New next year.
Played most courses in my area, but the one one i haven't and would really like to is Bearwood Lakes.

Fully recommend St Georges Hill, Swinley and Sunningdale to anyone with deep pockets. :D

Royal St Davids and Nefyn - mother-in-law lives near Harlech. Need to knock a couple of shots of the handicap first.

Thought about trying some of the Norfolk courses as they are relatively close.

As our club played over the same track for years(many years ago) and as a result we get a deal where we can play the Old course at Prestwick at certain time for a nominal fee. So it not the cost that puts me off but the toughness of the course. I reckon summer 11 will be my madien trip over the hallowed links.

My 'played list' is poor considering the number of years that I've been playing.

I've made an unofficial pledge to myself that I'll travel this great island of ours and play more courses.

I've never played golf on any course further north than Luton and that needs to change.

My financial situation should change next year and my kids are getting a bit easier to look after so I'm hoping to get a few forum meets in Scotland, etc sorted.

The thought of playing a top course and then staying in the clubhouse/hotel sharing a few jars with you lot is a big aim of mine for 2011.

In this neck of the woods the ones on my wish list are: Sunningdale (both), Queenwood, Wisley, West Sussex. Slightly further out, would add Broadstone, Ferndown, Isle of Purbeck, Remedy Oak, Hayling, Crowborough. The next level out: Rye, Littlestone, Notts, Sherwood Forest

If I can get the time, I would love to get up to Turnberry as we have a reciprical - I think it is £45! :D :p

Would like to do a few events next year - really looking forward to Cooden again as I have some time to save up for some new balls (!) and Beau Desert. I hope to add a couple of other courses either sie of these two events.

Other - many links to play. Like all of the heathladn courses in this area and hope to sneak a couple of games - Wentworth West at £360 plus caddy won't be among them!

I am really looking forward to hearing about what changes they plan to make at Bearwood as we have had the architect on site over the summer and his report is with the directors - I have heard some of the ideas and love the sound of the proposals I have heard - just need to find out what is approved - although it will be a multi-year plan.

Happy to host people at Bearwood - just let me know, although I only play at weekends

Would love to organise a trip round the open rota courses failing that aiming for Royal County Down, Portrush, Sligo(rosses point) and Royal Dublin.
