Tapped Up Club

I've been told that when hitting a demo club on a launch monitor that is tapped up will show higher figures, ie distances. This is also the same when trying out a driver, even though it has no grooves. So when hitting a tapped up club it will show greater length and distances.
Is this correct ? If so by how much further will it travel

Taped up clubs will give less spin, therefore more distance. However, I think it's only an extra 5 yards. It's the spin reading that will be more artificial, I believe.
