Anthony (TXL) and I played Tandridge Golf Club today with our esteemed leader Mike Harris and roving course reviewer Rob Smith.

I have to say, if I was forced to only play Tandridge for the rest of my golf days I be so so happy! It was in magnificent condition following their club championship at the weekend, the greens were awesome and Mike certainly feels that there should be a place in the top 100 courses for it and I certainly wouldn't argue!

Mike and I played the other two in a Stableford game off the back tees and we succumbed to Rob's local knowledge and Anthony's extremely solid driving and putting. The course was sublime and the greens were as good as any I've played on this year. Lunch was as good as had been suggested and it was a day that I shall long remember - I think I actually hit a straight ball once or twice too!

Thanks to Rob for setting it up an the other two for a fabulous day. If you fancy playing Tandrige go and do it, it's awesome.

Totally agree with Chris's comments above.

We all, at some time or other, get the opportunity to play a course for free and it is all to easy to say "great course, enjoyed the day etc" but I believe the better test of how good a course and the facilities are depends on whether you would return to play it again having to pay a green fee. This is certainly one course that I would be more than happy to return to.

The lunch, was as good as, if not better than the carvery lunches available at some of the finer Surrey courses - Beware though, you may not need to eat for a couple of days after :)

I'm due to play there with Rob just as soon as we can arrange it, looking forward to it.

Mm....losing to Anthony's solid driving and putting.........Like that never happens......

To be fair, Mike and I drove pretty well, Anthony was long off the tee but his putting was relentlessly good, if I could get to that standard I'd be hammering on the door of single figures I feel. The greens were immaculate thought!

thought the "Tandridge Pudding" was a pop at me for a minute !

despite living just a couple of fields away for over two years i still haven't got round to playing there, need to put that right soon.

Not only do you need to remedy that, you need to arrange a forum meet there for about 100 of us!

definitely a contender, getting better all the time with the wide ranging course works programme they have undertaken - especially the bunkering

Here's hoping Frank Pont can work the same magic at Broadstone :)
