Last evening's rant on TS suggested that if Woods did not attend The Open (as apparently there is a chance that he may not) then:

The winner wouldn't really count as a winner and that The Open should be postponed until a time when Woods could play.

I know he's Mr Wonderful but The Open is a damned sight bigger then one man.

Morning all!

I do enjoy listening to talk sport but i take everything they say in jest. Durham is the worst, although they all try to wind up the listener to encourage them to call in to the studio.

I think it was parry on monday suggestin rocco shouldn't even bother turning up for the play off on monday. how ridiculous, he's just had 4 great rounds of golf and deserved more than anyone to have a shot at beating tiger in the play off.

The whole TS business model is based on people phoning and sending texts, apart from ads it is how they are funded. That is why they come out with such ridiculous views on normally fairly simple things, and people bite on it every time.

"yes it was Durham, though Parry is usually the worst "

Parry is great value: "The Ginger Tube" makes ludicrous statements all the time with his tough firmly in cheek. Durham is in serious danger of disappearing up his own behind.

Mind you, surely no-one can complete with John "It's not rubbish Britain, it's Great Britain" Gaunt for talking the BIGGEST AMOUNT OF UNMITIGATED PAP ever.

As for the "No-Tiger so cancel the Open": as others have said their whole ploy is to provoke argument and discussion, usually by promoting some daft idea.

I wish TS could bring back the late Mike Dickin.

The only thing on that sation worth listening to is Hawksbee and Jacobs in the afternoons. As for the rest they are the Jeremy Kyles of radio broadcasting always looking for an angle to make listeners react.

I was on (Andy from Motherwell) making the point that it is 'THE' Open and not the British Open. Durham is a clueless moron who only said what he did to get people like me spending my companies hard earned cash by phoning a premium rate land line and holding for 20 mins.....

I am a clown ..... :(

Mike Dickin was responsible for the best and most comprehensive slaughtering of a politician I can remember.

He was on LBC and was talking I think to John Gummer about BSE. Said politico pooh pooed his questions/comments as the ill informed meejah line on farming and that real farmers would understand what the reality was. Mr Dickin then proceeded to talk him through the farm he owned and his families long links with farming and the realities of the real farmer as felt by a real farmer.

I thought Mr Gummer was going to vomit,it was genius!!

I think I heard you. It was as much his ill-informed and arrogant put-downs of callers that wound me up as the trash he was peddling.
Was it also you who commented on the favourable decisions that TW gets that another may not? (which does happen. whether he asks for them is another issue, I suspect not but referees (who are not pros) are intimidated by him).

Not sure about the bias but more a case of TW couldn't be wrong (as with ManU and some others). This is not a case of TW (or even Manu) cheating but they do have an influence that others do not.

I don't think I will ever forget (or forgive) the 'immoveable' cables a child could have lifted or the 'moveable' rock it took 12 to shift. (mind you simple rule change would fix those - if the player and/or his caddy (and no-one else) cannot move and replace it - it's not moveable. and the 'immoveable' objects - like cables - should be tested by the referee before being declared.)

or as Henry Longhurst said ' golf only needs one rule - play it as it lies'

totally agree with you about Gaunt. He's revolting. What's worse is the number of mindless idiots who phone in agreeing with him - scary.

Mike Dickin was excellent also.

I don't get radio at work now but when I used to work contract 6 or 7 years ago it was always Alan Brazil on, quaffing champagne at a racetrack somwhere with Tommo(racing pundit) and some banker called Henk Potts - are these guys still on it - if so I won't be re-tuning in.

Agree Mike Dickin was good, except for his music taste!

Stu, Brazil and Co are still there and I enjoy his show. I like Ian Collins and I could listen to Ian Wright all day long but Adrian Dumb is the one who makes me turn that show off. I honestly believe that he thinks Wrighty is hanging onto HIS coat tails and not the other way about.

Why would anyone listen to Gaunt when Jeremy Vine is on Radio 2.

PS. Does anyone else get pi55ed off with TalkSport when they ask you to text into their shows and then take a sherrifs badge (50p) off you for your bother.
