Well tonight I played 9 holes with the pro at a local course and decided to take the plunge and join. Can't wait to get started and get my first 3 cards in for my first official handicap!!

Well done mate - I have done the same myself and play my first round for my official club handicap on Thursday!

Just panicing about first tee nerves now!

Way to go Dave.

There's nothing like playing in the Medals and Stableford comps and getting a real handicap. :D

May your Membership become a long and fruitful one. :)

I was bricking it 1st tee shot and 2nd, then 3rd :)

1st comp was the same and 1st forum meet, now I am a lot more confident (even though I still duff plenty)

I only wish I could play more now as once a week and the odd evening 9 holes isnt enough

Good luck

Good stuff Davey & Matt well done guys keep us posted on the handicap cards & your 1st comp nerves / experiences .. dont be worrying too much.. most golfers understand youl be nervous & be rooting for ye .. good luck guys ..

Gary............ are you out there? :)

Golfmmad.

Yes Chris, but it's best we don't go there.

The short version is that I don't agree that a bogey comp can be used for handicap when all scores aren't recorded.

As a PS to the subject, I queried it with CONGU and they said they were looking at whether or not to retain the format as qualifying for the reasons I went into in the original thread.

Thanks for clearing that up Gary - somewhere in the back of my mind I remember that thread :)

As stated in my first reply - Medal and Stableford for a real handicap. ;)

How am I a bandit CK? Played off 17 at Thetford and shot 92 for 33 points, doubt I will be anywhere near that at Forresters. Played 9 holes last night and managed to lose 4 balls!! I'm hoping for around the 19-21 hcap when I get it. Feel free to come along for a round though. I really can't wait to get a full round in and get used to the course.

Only a bit of banter chum, I'm sure you'll get on well at Forresters. :) :) :)
