Evening all, both my boys who are 5 and 7 have asked for a tablet for their birthdays , i know nothing about them and don't want to spend the money on i pads, anyone recommend any other good ones ? I think they want to use them for games, music , videos (or what ever there called now) and homework.

Cheers

Midnight...

The hudl is actually pretty decent tablet for the price

I have a google nexus 7 and find it excellent (its on Android). Can pick up the previous model for around the £100 mark now which would probably more than do the job required

May be living in the dark ages here , but what is android please mate ?

Android is the operating system, the engine so to speak, Apple has their own one so you find some apps work on Apple Ops system and not Android. But there are lots for both and isnt really a concern these days and certainly not for a 5 and 7 yr old.

I bought my 7 yr old the Tesco hudl running android, he calls it his android and not hudl, does all you will need and not expensive (relatively) should it get damaged or drinks spilt on it etc

*edit* must type faster as Fundy beat me to it

We've got a Nexus 7 16GB for £160. Cracking little tablet. Dead easy to use - screen size is fine for us - but we don't do gaming. Just fine for watching TV on iPlayer, SkyGo etc.

A vision flashed before me of you lugging it round the course using at as a DMD with a free golf GPS app!

Another vote for the nexus 7. Had mine for about a year and has done everything i need it to. I use an app called Double Twist to sync it with itunes

We got our two girls Hudl's for xmas.

Relative bargain using the clubcard points. Got both for £120.

Ideal for them and no complaints so far!!

And it keeps them off my Ipad:)

+1....I have the 1st Nexus 7 and it never missed a beat. More or less used exclusively by my 5 year old now. There are loads of free good games in the Play Store.
