I'm surprised somebody of this calibre was allowed to stay in Oz. I thought from what we hear from the media, is that they are quite strict with who they let roam their streets etc.

My relatives in OZ tell me its the same as here. The Liberal elite pull out the racist card on anyone who has concerns over such people as this.

Soft methods of dealing with people like this leads to these kind of events taking place , we in the west respect the rights of people like this knowing full well they do not respect our rights and we even give them money to live , madness , time to get real and clampdown on them , get the message out with action and get rid . Do you think you can stand on a soap box in the middle east and preach hate and ask people to behead a local police officer or someone in the army , no chance as you be shot , nuff said

Would you like the West to start acting The same ? Also lets not tar the whole area with the same brush

Shall we stop respecting people's rights just because they do

What sets us apart from people like this is we will continue to respect people and value life a lot higher and I hope we continue that way and don't lower ourselves to their level.

You have to stand up to this kind , we did it to the Nazis otherwise where would the world be today , you are one of the soft ones , respect everyone rights even when they going to kill you , you think at the last min they have a change of heart , see if you feel the same if one of the dead is a member of your family

We are standing up to it

But doing it with the respect of human rights

I have served in conflict areas so I have seen the effects of people that don't respect other human beings and have lost colleagues and friends

Everything we do must be done the right way - and not stoop to the level of other people.

Doing different makes you the same as them

Teachers and children killed in a Pakistan school today by Taliban. If they are not killing us they are killing their own.

These people are sinister and evil and it seems everywhere, do we hold out the hand of civility to these monsters, they respect nothing and IMO the law designed to be a tool that is appropriate in civilised society does not work with these medieval cretins.

As one who has lost a family member to a terrorist attack, I believe showing respect for human rights is one of the ways in which we are able to differentiate ourselves from those who simply want revenge! In fact, I believe that if we don't show respect for Human Rights, we are no different from the terrorists!

Was the CIA's use of torture justified? Certainly not imo!

Is Guantanamo Bay justified? Certainly not imo.

And some of the UK's laws have crossed the boundary also.

That doesn't mean I approve of atrocities! But I believe the Justice system is generally sufficient without creating laws that can be abused, as has happened, and turning countries into Police States!

Sad couple of days with the loss of life in Sydney and the atrocity this morning with the slaughter of so many innocents. I respect Foxholer's stance immensely and not quite sure I'd be so prepared to stand by human rights if I'd been affected that way

You see there is one difference here , We respect human rights and we respect the rights of these evil people , they know that hence they do not respect ours and will in turn take avantage of our respect for their rights . This then allows them to carry out evil acts against us because they know we will not become like them and there you have the problem , respect is a two way thing and has to be earned in this case it should be set aside and just blow these scum away . the CIA actions with the so call terror suspects is something that has to be done , why , you need to see the bigger picture , which is ? these people respect no one and will cut your head off given the chance :sbox:

There is never a justification to resort to the level of a terrorist - it makes you as bad as them.

What sets us apart from them is us doing the right thing

If you suggest ignoring the right thing then you are not better than them

To suggest "blowing them" is the same as what they are doing

You are in the wrong country for this approach mate!

Try North Korea or China! Or maybe parts of Philippines or Indonesia!

I'm all for human rights and all that, it's great, but why give the guy a gun license? That's taking equality way too far. An Iranian asylum seeker, with no employment. Yep, he can have a gun. No worries. What could he possibly want a gun for?

I agree that we shouldn't resort to their tactics but I also think we are being too soft on the situation. IMO we should stop all immigration from countries where Muslim terrorists are prevalent, we should also be very tough on anyone here found radicalising or being radicalised in Jihad. I have suggested setting up camps in places such as South Georgia where they can be isolated from us.

They are taking advantage of our decency and will continue to use it as a weapon against us. The situation has passed the critical point where we could have a chance of keeping our borders relatively safe and the Politicians who have allowed us to sleepwalk into this current situation have a lot to answer for.

A voice of reason at last , What we doing over there telling them how to run their country , they not over here telling us the same , make no mistake we are over there so we can get our hands on the oil over there , its huge business as we can then supply what is needed to get it and that is big revenue to the UK , We not in Zimbawe , its worse over there but hang on a min , no oil there yet , by the way , war is also big business , who do you think supplies the arms for the fighting , there is a bigger picture here , greed , what is a few lives to these people , they not getting their hands dirty , the 24 hour bus be along in a min telling us otherwise , I can be silly at times because i choose too but I ain`t stupid , These mad people are everywhere just waiting to carry out their threats , we give them the means , too soft by far , That guy in Australia had 40 plus counts of rape against him and yes they give him the right to own a gun , what next , give guys like him a machine gun so he can kill more quickly ..........madness , all in the name of human rights , what about the rights of those killed , we just go out and buy flowers to ease what , our pain ?
