After two great seasons my swing has decided to run and hide for a while.
I haven't played well for a couple of weeks and today I went on the range with my "coach" to look at what is going on.

Tempo - Gone
Rhythm - Gone
Swing plane - Gone
Feel - Gone.

Well at least I know what I'm working on over the winter and hope I can rediscover my swing for next year.

Most likely a week not next year. What did you coach ask you to do?

Played yesterday Andy. Playing off 21. I parred the 18th par five. Parred two par threes putting both tees shots 10ft from pin. One with a fairway wood and one with a six iron. I parred the second hardest par four. All positives. However.

It was like I was Jeckyl and Hyde.

some of my drives were awesome, one went 30yd. I could of kicked it further.

My flippin swing was all over the place. Four pars and finished with 32 points.

Think that the fact you have recognised your probs and seen coach is a massive step in the right direction.

PS, My first name is Andy. Must be an Andy thing.

As my forum name says williamalex1, who on very the odd occasion can play well, with a nice draw to the centre of the fairway.
But then there's williamalex2,3,and 4 who can play absolutely F'ALL.
But we all enjoy ourselves. :D

Look on the bright side. At least you had it at some point. Some of us struggle on regardless ;)
Once you've sorted some sort of technique, golf is a confidence game more than anything else. Just keep hitting the balls and you'll get it back I'm sure.

i have found the answer to my swing going awol.
its nothing mind blowingly spectacular but it works for me ,i have tried it many times and each time my swing has returned feeling well ashamed for leaving me alone .
what do i do .
i just go to the range and thrash ,literally thrash the living daylights out of two buckets of balls with the driver ,i dont care where the ball go`s
i come off the range feeling bloody knackered .
the following evening i will go back to the range with just a seven iron and hit a bucket of balls .the following evening its another range job but with all the tools. hey presto one swing duly returned and ready to go.

well it works for me.

My coach is my golfing buddy who has been working with me for the last couple of years and is responsible for the huge improvements I have made during that time.

I know that part of the problem is a lack of long game practice as I've been concentrating on my short game and it would seem by far too much. That along with changing jobs, family worries with my mother in law and becoming captain my golf has taken a bit of a back seat over the last few months.

I don't lack confidence as I know it's in there after shooting 6 over gross on the Belleisle course while in Ayr last month even with tennis elbow playing up at the time.
Now things have settled down at work with my 3 month trial period finishing yesterday, knowing the mother in law isn't as bad as we were led to believe and having time to get to the range at least 3 times a week I know it won't take long to get back to where I was and to get going on a draw swing for next season.

Short game is immense at the moment so have to make sure I give enough time to keep that going as well as the long game work I want to do.
Single figures should be possible next season.
