Hi fella, welcome to the forum!

Firstly, all of your videos of your swing are private on Youtube and cant be viewed so you need to sort that out first!

Secondly, Neil (and other folk who care to comment on your swing) will need just a touch more info, Neil asked for the following qiestions to be answered:

Do you have regular coaching at the moment? If yes, what have you specifically been working on?
What do you consider to be the strengths of your game?
Weaknesses?
How often do you play/practise?
What is your scoring average/handicap?
Do you keep stats?
What is your strike/shot/shape pattern for the following clubs
Driver/Tee shots
Fariway woods
Rescue Clubs
Long/medium irons
Short irons

Thanks for you answer.
I made the youtube links public now.
I have no coaching at the moment.
My main strenght is the distance.
Main weakness is inconsistency of shots. I guess that I am coming to much over the top.
I play or practise once a week. Could be more dedicated from time to time.
My hcp is 14 but I am playing more around 20 at the moment.
I started to keep stats this year. I have seen improvement in putting and scramble but my GIR figures is quite low.
From the tee box, I shot is very variable. My natural good shot is a straight long shot. But by the past, I tended to slice and more recently to pull a lot.
For the fairways woods it is the same. I more consistent with my 18'-rescue.
Long irons and short irons are more or less the same with obviously more consistency with the short ones.

thanks again for your help.

Cheers
Didier

Hi

had a look at ya swing, very nice backswing position but you seem to be coming 'over the top' on ya downswing and this will cause a pull in the shorter clubs and a slice in the longer ones because you are holding the clubface open/casting through impact.

a good drill for this problem is at the top of the backswing is to hold that position for a second and this will give the feeling of the hips starting the downswing and therefore gets the club on a shallow/inside plane

hope this helps

Hi Didier :) Welcome to the forum.

At a glance your posture and basic swing look pretty nice. You appear to be cutting right across the ball. If you take a look at the picture (below) you look like you are lined up to hit it down the YELLOW LINE but infact you hit it down the WHITE LINE. This is making you cut right across the ball, and you are probably creeping further and further right trying to compensate for the ball going left, and as you say...prone to pulling and slicing.

If you told me that you were going to hit it down that yellow line it looks like you're perfect!, ready to give it a right good whack!! :)

Fix: You should try to fix your alignment otherwise you will continue to build compensations into your swing.

Drill: Practice at the range with a club across your toes, parallel to the target (think TRAIN TRACKS) and another one 50cm IN FRONT of the ball pointing down the target line. Try to hit the ball straight down the target line...slowly. Gradually build up into full swings as you get used to the proper alignment. This will stop you slicing across the ball and give you a lot more power/distance. If you swing harder and the ball doesn't go down the target line, stop... and start from slowly again.

In that pic your posture, hands and center of gravity look perfect! Really nice.

hope this helps,
Regards...

Thanks very for much for posting your swings. Even better that you have got swings that were taken on the golf course.
As I have said on many occasions, the swing is dramatically different on the golf course to how it is on the driving range.

"Justoneuk" hit the nail right on the head when he mentioned your alignment.

Forget ever correcting the line/shape of your golf swing if you cannot align yourself correctly on the golf course.

I spend 80/90% of my coaching with my pupils dealing with poor on-course alignment. For me it causes many of the poor moves that we see on the golf course from amateur golfers.

I am going to make some assumptions to where you are aiming, your lower half (feet, knees & hips) are aiming well right of target and your upper body (shoulders & forearms) are aiming to the left. This is an extremely common position that I see and can guarantee that 90% of the people you play with will be in a similar position.

The reason for the poor alignment is the position your eyes are in relative to the target. Everybody knows that you should set up with your body parallel to the target line but then, when you set up, you aim your body at the target. This is extremely natrual to do, unfortunately you are then "closed" realtive to the target and will normally have to swing "over the top" to get back to the ball.

My advice to you would be to ignore any swing thoughts until you have successfully developed great awareness of your alignment when out on the golf course.

If you had Tiger Wood's swing with your aim, Tiger's swing would get worse. If your had your swing with Tiger's aim your golf game would improve dramatically!!

When working with my pupils we will spend many sessions on the golf course improving awareness of what good alignment is. I am going to give you a couple of pointers to get you started. Feed back to me how you get on and we can develop better alignment over time
(anyone else reading this would do well to check how well they align when out on the golf course - I always say on the course because you CANNOT check/improve alignment on the driving range!! The reason, your view on the range NEVER cahnges, it is always the same. EVERY shot on the golf course is different, the view, the feel, what you have to do, therefore improving your alignment can be VERY difficult)

There is only one thing that aims at the target - the centre of the clubface
Everything else, if you are right handed, will point to the left of the target. Getting parallel to the target, in my experience, doesn't normally help.
You are going to need to "feel" as though you are aiming well left with your lower body (feet, knees, hips) and then well to the right with your top half (shoulders and forearms) If you get someone to check from "down the target line" they will reafirm that you are aiming correctly. Trust them, you will not feel correct, it will take time to develop awareness of correct alignment.

From this new position you may well hit a few shots to the left of the target, do not worry, it will take a few rounds for your golf swing to adjust to the new position at address. Trust where you aiming and then trust that the line of your swing will improve from a better aligned set up position.

DO NOT work on your golf swing until you have improved your on course alignment
I have seen many instances where golf swings improve dramitically when alignment improves.

I could talk for hours about alignment, please do not hesitate to ask further questions to aid your improvement

Look forward to your feedback
