Swing analysis

No expert but did suffer from this myself when I was fairly new to the game. Someone referred me to 2 drills to help with the turn and weight shift to stop the hanging back.

One was to put something soft and squashable under the left heel at address (I used half an old tennis ball) and really feel that you squash it down into the ground getting the weight into the left heel at/after impact.

The other was to 'cover the ball' on the follow through. Which basically involved feeling a strong turn to get the chest pointing at target on the follow through and feeling a nice tall finish up on your left heel making every effort to get your chest to 'cover the ball' well where it was before you struck it. If that makes sense.

Ultimately, try and let the bigger muscles be the driving force, let the arms hang on for the ride as long as possible before bringing them into play.

May help may not, sure someone more qualified will be along but certainly helped me. Good luck

I videod my swing today and wondered if anyone would be kind enough to have a look?

It's quite frustrating cause I know I am not turning quickly enough! I'm also holding back a little keeping weight on my right side when swinging through,

Does anyone know any good drills to help me get turning through better?

Thanks

You look far to athletic for that static swing c'mon man just turn through the ball :)

In all seriousness feel like the club and hands are just on for the ride, they are the last thing to go at the ball, forget about them during the downswing as a feeling.

Start the downswing with a bump of the hips towards the target then a rotation from the ground up around your spine axis. The arms/shoulders then obviously the club will naturally swing as a consequence towards the ball and as mentioned above you can cover the ball and get a nice downwards blow with your irons.

Your set up and back swing look pretty good even the funky left leg is probably not much to worry about but its all very static in the downswing.

good luck

I stand in front of the mirror at home and it looks fine, but I think without a club and ball to hit, even though I think my hips are turned at the point of impact, in reality the point i think I'm hitting the ball is way after when I would actually hit the ball, so when I did this video I was concentrating on turning but as you can see here my hips are still face on with the camera when I connect with the ball :(

What fault are you trying to fix?

I was slicing a bit off the tee, after a lesson I have corrected that quite a lot by not coming in as steep on my down swing and going 'in to in' I believe it's called rather than out to in before. Only problem really is I tend to only hit it about 220 with my driver where as before when I hit it good it was 260-280

Thank s
