I find myself sweating profusely when playing Matchplay, especially towards the end of the round - even when it's not hot and I don't appear to be that nervous.
Clearly I must be though!

Anybody else come off in a lather after Matchplay?

I'll answer properly for you JV.

I can't say I have this problem to be honest with you but I do generally sweat quite easily, I'd advise going to Boots and picking up a roll on deodorant called "Triple dry" or "Driclor", they're over night roll on's that basically stop you sweating in the problem areas. I told a friend about it a few years ago and he started putting it on his forehead! Driclor is the more heavy duty one.

This might help your issue, other than that, it might be something nerve related that you're just unaware of as the body has different ways of dealing with nerves.

Thanks Swanny.

I was just about to add something I should have said in my first post - it's all on my face and particularly forehead!
I'm dry everywhere else but in the closing stages of a game, I'm forever wiping my brow. It pours out of me!

Like you say, it's gotta be nerves I'm thinking, although at the time I think I'm pretty cool and in control.
I've googled it anyway and it seems Tiger was a sweaty chap too. Must be something to do with the mental side of it.

I'm laughing about your mate rolling it on his forehead! Did it work?

It could be worse :D

Yes, I believe it did work. LOL

Must admit, this is the first time I've noticed any idiots on this forum.

You can't come on too often then, or you've not read the football thread. There's loads of them

Anyway, I don't sweat during any game of golf unless the weather dictates. As a baldy, the sweat dripping down ya head can be err, unattractive to the GILF playing members. What does annoy me being a speccy four-eyes is my bins slipping down off mi snout when its hot. Now that is annoying. Seriously thinking of getting some Oakley prescriptions shades to look even more like an 'all the gear' type that can double up as a discreet summer perving option - I don't do contacts.

A chap I played with a couple of years ago had the same problem as you in the summer months, glasses slipping down your nose when playing. He got an elasaticated band that fitted them tighter to his head, seemed to work I think.

I've seen that too.
I'm not one to judge, but it didn't look the best. I think the Oakley idea is the best bet!

Sweat is annoying especially when it's apparently triggered my something you don't feel. Occasionally I get sweaty palms as I walk into a work meeting even if I know the customer very well and get on with them. Thankfully not very often.

I remember a part in Frost vs Nixon (the film at least) where Nixon was saying he wanted the camera to go off him every so often so he could wipe his brow, as apparently in the TV debates he had with Kennedy, he 'lost' because he looked nervous and uncomfortable wiping the sweat away every few minutes, whereas if you were blind and only heard the debate, Nixon came across a lot better. This is all way before my time so could be a load of tosh.

Not sure how this applies to golf though, might give your opponent a boost if he see's you sweating profusely. Driclor is good stuff I hear as already mentioned, although not allowing your body to cool itself (if you are actually getting hot) isn't very good for you.

Sounds like it is bandana time. That will soak up the sweat nicely and you can look cool / like a drug dealer (delete as appropriate). That would be a good one for the dress code police although from the sound of it you would not have to tie it on until late in the round.

Interesting. I now know it must be a mental thing, but it's good to know that Nixon had it too. And Tiger by the look of some of his pictures!

Yes, once I'm on the course and away there will only be my PP to convince I'm not breaking the rules by wearing a bandana for 3 holes!

I'm absolutely certain that I won't be adopting this method! The prescription shades would cost over £200 though and I could buy a Scotty with that...

Maybe I'll have to put up with the sweat. Or wear a bright yellow headband :mmm:
