Anyone having experience or want to try ---swap house and car for golf vacation....

We did that for some years - with a couple in Ireland---we swap house and car-- that is costeffective and one can put in money on greenfees instead of rental car and hotel/ rent apartment. Also one get tips off what to do in the area--good local establishement etc.....

its cost effective way to visit places one otherwise wouldnt visit-----

anyone else tried that way of vacation?

Sounds like a good idea. However I think you'd need to know and build up a fair amount of trust with the people you swap with. There are too many people out there willing to take advantage of other peoples good will.

What implications are those then? Remember this a swap not a rental.

Your home insurance policy will most likely only cover yourself, immediate family members and domestic staff. It will not cover guests when not accompanied by the policy holder or those normally living there.

Also consider the liability issue should a ceiling fall on a guest or they trip up on a wire. Or, imagine your boiler broke down or your house was flooded during their stay through no fault of their own- who should pay for alternative accommodation for them?

Even if something little happened such as they broke your TV and you phoned to make a claim, on disclosing that someone else was living in the property rather than yourself, I wouldn't be surprised if your insurer rejected your claim (you will still have to declare this claim for the ext 3 to 5 years) or even cancel your policy back to inception date. This could affect your ability to obtain home insurance in the future.

In short- phone your insurer.

There are thousands of people/families exchanges houses and cars for decades....it speaks for itself-----

In sweden its like this---our home insurance is covering the house and the family members--- if anything happens to the house and its covered by the insurance..then insurance apply regarding who is staying in the house.. The only risk you take---you lend out your keys and if they take all assets out from the house--then insurance doesnt cover..

Its the same for the car...its the car that is insuranced---no matter who is driving..

Well if something is broken---so what---its only things!!! and if they smash the car---so what --its only a piece of metal.

People/families whom is into swaping houses is responsible sensible people and they threat property as they want you to threat there property..

There is so much to benefit from this kind of vacation----to dare is to ......

not over here it isn't- wonder what they would say if my friend let a 21yr old with 9 points already on his licence drive his Aston and total it:whistle:
Strange if that rule works for insurers in Sweden

Don't know where you are getting your info' from but that is not the case with Britain's largest insurer.
