Hi all
I organised a small society day (10 people) at the Surrey National http://www.surreynational.co.uk/
Deal was full English + tea/coffee, range token (about 40 balls), 18 holes and burger and chips for £45 per head.
Course looked good on arrival, lots of hills, lots of slanted lies and quite open - good for a society of mostly high handicappers (25+) and 3 of us between 9 and 18.
Pro shop were amazingly quick and getting me checked in, 10 score cards and 10 range tokens given out immediately along with the longest drive and closest to the pin markers sorted with the society name on. He also gave the bar staff a shot to start arranging breakfast - couldn't fault him.
Lady behind the bar was really friendly, really efficient and really helpful. A couple of the society also noted very pleasing on the eye also.
The range was a decent size, plenty of outdoor bays - balls were a bit ropey but fine to warm up with.
Course was quite long (even off the yellows) and although not very difficult, was a good course, very well kept and kept you thinking. Greens were a little slow but I've played much worse.
Bar staff after got us fed and watered with minimal fuss and the food was good simple food, we really couldn't have asked any more.
I was coming down the 18th and was on for a good score - 40 points (off 18 in the end) and thought I was in with a shout of winning, for the +9 handicapper to have shot a level par 72. You cant win them all.
Cant recommend the course and staff enough, top notch place.
