Surely someone's got one.

I need a front offside brake caliper for my 1998 Jaguar XJ8, and I need it soon. Can't wait for the usual sources to open on 5th. January. Surely someone has one somewhere tucked away in their garage amongst those old clubs and broken tees. I'm willing to pay handsomely for an early source.

Thanks Jon. I have tried them, (they are part of David Manners Ltd.) They have one, but it's very pricey at £142 and I think that's based on sending the old one in for reconditioning. Thanks anyway.

Had a word with a couple of Jag Breakers locally to me and they said they dont sell the calipers of cars that have been sat as the seals are usually shot when they pull them out.

I belive that your local unipart supplier should do a DIY caliper overhaul kit if you are that way inclined.

Yes Jon. The garage where my car is at the moment do use the Unipart service, and I think that is why they have to wait until the 5th. before they can send it off. I just thought I may be able to get one earlier and get the car back in the road ASAP but it doesn't appear likely now. You're right about the breakers. Also it's a bit of a risk since you don't know what you're getting, and the effort of removing it from the scapped vehicle, in some cases, is not worth it. I think I will just have to wait. Thanks for your help anyway.

I spoke to an out-law and he's asking around the few jag clubs members he knows.

There is a Jag parts company in Bridgnorth (Shrops), don't know anything about them, but it would be a fairly quick drive if you can find them and they have the part.

Happy new year Dave.

Thanks for your reply to my quest for a front caliper. I've now resigned myself to the fact that I will have to wait until everything gets back to normal on the 5th.

I hope that we will be able to get our return match organised early in the new year.
