Do these actually work or is this just good, old marketing guff?

I started a thread off a few days ago about ditching my R9 driver. After consideration I've decided to persivere with it and try adjusting some of the settings (As it's still set-up as it was delivered).

Can adjusting the club, using the above mentioned, make that much of a differance to the shot shape?

I'm off to the range shortly to have a tinker...... Or am I wasting my time?

The MWT made the most difference to me. The heavy weight was in the heal making it easy to close the face at impact. I swapped the weights which resulted in a straighter ball flight.

Also the shaft loft adjustment. the standard set up was 9* and it never felt quite right for me, i opened the loft up (which also added 500rpm of spin and the length i gained was pretty big. about 15 yards

Thanks for that OS.

Im going to have a play shortly to see if makes any differance. I'm not expecting miracles, just curious to see how it affects the ball flight and if it can help.

SureFit on my 910F helped me get the lie angle correct. I have it set full open, not because I wanted to play the ball that way but because I wanted to get the club head flat at adderss.

Titleist do not intend to make the club play a shape, other than the stock 0.5* open, the system is for loft and lie. That said, if you put the club flat on the ground it will have the effect of opening and closing the face because of the shape of the sole.

what is your typical shot shape.

Well, I have my R9 set up as delivered (FCT set to N, with MWT at 1-16-1). My typical shape with these settings is a fade.

I was thinking of moving the head to NU (Neutral Upright) to see if that will straighten the ball flight a little.

it may be worth trying to slightly close the face/reduce loft on the shaft adjuster

On the r11 there is a stock setting, a lower loft which reduces it by 0.5* and reduces spin by 500rpm, or a higher loft which adds 0.5* and increases spin by 500rpm. the reduced spin my reduce the amount is fades/slices aswell.

I see your point OS.

However, if I read the TM FCT manual correctly, do drop the loft of the club face to a 10* I would need to set it to the NU-R setting which is 1 Open, 59.5 Lie, 10.0*. Wouldn't the face being open exaggerate the fade?

The settings I was looking at are.

Current - N - Square, 58 Lie, 10.5* (MWT 1-16-1)

Considering the above with MWT at 16-1-1

Or, NU - Square, 60 Lie, 10.5* (MWT either 1-16-1 or 16-1-1)

Not sure how it works on the r9, im only going off the book that comes with the r11. More loft more spin, less loft less spin so to speak, but then we can adjust teh face with the adjustable sole plate, which the r9 doesnt have, so maybe its been manufactured differently to the r11.

For sure the R11 will be manufactured differently as it is a more advanced club.

After a trip to the range and a few hundred ball hit (...... And much tinkering), I found a setting on the R9 that suits my swing. It's now set to:

FCT @ NU - [Square (Face angle) - 60 Lie (1* Upright) - 10.5* (Loft)].

MWT @ 16-1-1.

While setting up I decided to have a look at the FCT manual. I noticed that the Neutral setting (N) that I have been playing actually promotes a slight fade.

If only I'd have read this earlier
