Do many of you submit these?

I can't play a lot of weekend medals as I tend to be away with the family.

That leaves only 1 medal per month during the week and as my aim this year is to get my handicap down, I really will need to rely on supplementary cards.

Minus 3 net today, should get a wee cut.

never submitted one myself as i play comps at the weekend.

But don't forget you have to inform the club that you are putting one in before hand and you will still go up 0.1 if you shoot a poor score.

If your off the yellows you will need to work out any cut from the SSS not par.

I had to ask but at our club your allowed to put in 10 supplementary cards a year but must inform the pro before you start but the strange bit for me is your also allowed to play from the yellows

As long as the course you're playing has a measured SSS and meets the requirements for handicapping you can play from any tee.
My place likes you to play from the Whites but there's so little difference between White and Yellow it's irrelevent. Only 1 hole is different enough to actually change the club you're going to use off the tee...

Standard any measured course is fine same as initial handicap cards SSS should take care of the differences in tees.

I can see how it might be difficult to get your handicap down at that rate but for me competition play is so vastly different that i want my handicap to reflect my ability in tournaments not just a game with my mates. No point having a low handicap and getting .1 back every Saturday.

The only difference is in your head.
When you put a supplemntary in, your handicap is affected. Play badly and you go up, play well and you get cut
Exactly the same as "tournament" play.
By thinking of it as "tournament" play you're already on the back foot mentally.
You're thinking it's harder than it actually is.
If you play every round trying to score your best then it shouldn't matter if you're playing a Medal or putting in a Supplementary

Ha don't get me wrong I'd expect to get .1 back even on a supplementary. I'm definitely not mentally robust enough for this game yet.
