just a query,

My handicap will have lapsed by the time i get another chance at it. I want to be as low as i can be, but expect that my 3 cards will be fairly high until i get going again, then i would expect to get lower fairly quickly.

BUT i don't want to be winning 3 medals in a row with ridiculously low scores, so can i just hand in a supplementary or 2 (signed of course)? I'm not sure how it works, and i'm also not saying i'm an amazing golfer, just curious really.

Why worry about winning Medals on the way down..?
Anyone with a low handicap will have done it. As long as you don't put in deliberately high cards initially it wont be an issue.
As long as you inform the club/Pro that you're putting a card in you can put supplementary cards in. You can't shoot 5 under handicap and then think "Oooh, I'll have that for a cut".

Do you mean "lapsed" or "become inactive?"

If it has just become inactive, your next qualifying card handed in will just see you either go out .1 if it is a duff one, or come down the required amount if it is a good 'un. Your handicap will remain "inactive" until you have played the required 3 qualifying rounds.

If it has lapsed, then you need to have a word with the secretary to see how he feels about it.
My handicap had lapsed when I joined Highwoods two years ago. I just handed 3 cards in (one from a qualifier and two friendly games played with other members) and he took these into account when awarding me my new "active" handicap.
But if he wants to play it by the book, he will require 3 cards handed in from qualifiers.

Thanks for the replies. It's just curiosity really. The last thing i want is to immediately be known as the course bandito. And when i used to play there was no such thing as a supplementary
