Leading on and not wanting to hijack a previous thread about bogey holes.............

Is your 13th hole unlucky for some?

At a course I used to play in Germany, the 13th was SI 1 and 440yds long.
It had a dogleg to the right at around 210 with a hoooge tree guarding the front left of the green and the fairway was tree lined on both sides.
It had bogey written all over it.

Bob,
our 13th is a 150yd par 3 with a very large ash tree at about 100yds covering half the green to the left and a row of trees all the way down the right. It seems to be a bogey hole on alternate years for me :D
I won't get upset about being hijacked ;)

Our 13th is unlucky for some. It is stroke index 1 and is a 420 yard par 4. The hole is flat to start but at 190 to go drops hard down hill all the way to a brook that runs along the front edge of the green. Because you are so far above the green for your long 2nd shot it is very easy to find the water.

I find whenever I lay up at the bottom of the hill before the brook I make 5 and whenever I go at it from about 190 it gets wet or goes left or right long.

I have par`d it once. Yesterday was a fun game with my buddy, I made a great drive so went at it. Hit the shot low and into the water it went. Dropped a ball down not to be beaten and hit it into the center of the green, 2 putts, 6.

Its a great hole, lots of fun, lots of ways to play it, good SI1. Then its onto out 447 Yard uphill into the wind par 4. Good luck making the green in 2.

Par 3 156yds. Green slopes away and left to right. Front is well guarded by bunkers and with a drop down to about 25ft below ther greend on the short right.

Anything left above the pin will leave you a very fast putt or three.

I've hit everything from 50* wedge to 5iron dependant on the wind.

Wouldnt it of been a 6? :D

Damn you, I was just looking at my card and it made me come back to the post, but you beat me!!! grrrr

Anyways Edited

The 13th at Rothesay is a Par 3, 174 from the boxes. Too be fair I probably had more doubles than birdies this year on this stinker.

The tee is back in the trees making club selection a bit of a headache when the wind is blowing, 2 bunkers and a steep slope at the front of the green and OOB about 15 yards behind the green, a hard bounce on the back of the green in the summer and your ball is offski out the park!

I actually find this one of the best holes on the course for me, a 3 wood over the brow of the hill leaves a short to mid iron in to a big green, water shouldnt really be in play. As for the 14th however.........

One of the easiest holes on the course. Just over 500 yards par 5, although it does have rather a tricky green with a three foot tier near the front, which is easy to roll back down and then off the green.

Ours is a par 3 also , but it can certainly bely its si17 !!! Slim hourglass shaped green with OOB to the right. Most people club down and hit to the front, but if the flags in the middle or at the back (which for medals it pretty much always is) and you take the pin on you can easily rack up a double or triple

Ours is a Par 5. You drive onto a plateau fairway with OB all down the right so it's the 1st drive you really don't get any room for error. Down the left is a hill which brings theball back into the fairway but if you go too far you end up on the slope with a blind shot back to the fairway which slopes towards the OB. The fairway drops from the plateau and rises back up to the green and also slopes towards the OB so is difficult to hit in two.

If you get a drive away it's not a tough hole, if you don't it's a card wrecker.

The other problem is the tee box is tight against the OB so if you hit a draw like me you have an issue. I've taught myself to hit a fade just for this hole but if I double cross myself it's not a pretty place to play the 2nd shot from and hitting a fade with OB down the right isn't exactly ideal.

My 13th is a par 4 with two fairways. There is a copse of trees about 200 yards from the tee. The left hand side is only 10 yards wide with a couple of yards of straw before you hit the jungle either side. Taking the right-hand side means you have a sharpish dogleg left as long as you hit past the trees at about 230 yards. I didn't try the left side at all last year and nor did anyone else I watched.

Our 13th is a 197mtr par 3 I think thats about 215 yrds....
Forget about laying up as there is a large lake to carry to a 2 tier green that is protected by 3 bunkers....
If i walk off this hole with a Bogie im delighted...

Im wondering what the percentage of pros that hit the green from 200-220 yrds would be....As this is a hole that i always try to hit the green on and my come off 2 times in 10 from that distance....There is no point trying to lay up in front of the green either as the patch of grass between the green and the edge of the lake is only about 20yrds deep by 40yrds wide.

My 13th is not a bad little hole.

Par 3 si 8 157 yrs
Bunkers front right and left.

Pro's Tip. (taken from the web site)
Very pretty short hole surrounded by trees left and right. Miss the green at your peril.

The trees to the right are not very nice, I should know I have been in and behind everyone :o

Our 13th is a long par 3 with a big dip short of the green to stop anything landing short from bouncing forward and onto the green. SI 17 so no shot for me but I rarely find the dancefloor so usually accept a 4 and move on.

On the subject of real bogey holes on the course that's easy. Everything numbered 1-18 has at one time or another conspired to wreck an otherwise decent competitive round

127yds SI 18. Anything from PW to 8 iron depending on season, wind and pin position.

Big bunker 20yds short means you can't see the bottom of the flag unless it's up the back, and a stream runs all the way down the right side of the hole and horseshoes around the back of the green to the front left.

According to SS2 it's my second easiest hole at 3.15 average.
