Or rather will bring the golfing gods doom over you if you forget to wear your lucky trousers or carry your lucky ball marker or rabbits foot or whatever?? Do you succumb to any superstitions on the course?

I have really tried not to, knowing my mind has a penchant for heading down that route! But...if I'm playing well in a competition then I hate to change a single thing. So if we start in a chilly morning breeze which turns into a raging inferno I'm loathe to take off the jacket or hat or whatever I started the round with. Can get a bit sauna-like at times !! If I'm not playing well then off the layers come without a second thought

I don't really have any superstitions and have never had any for any other sports either.

However, I'm a firm believer in people doing whatever they need to in order to get in the right frame of mind to perform, so understand why people have them.

I'm now waiting for all the dime-store psychologists to come out of the woodwork on this thread to slam anyone who DOES have them. :whoo:

Thankfully, I don't have any in golf or my life in general.

I did play with a guy once that had a superstition about birds flying directly over him - if they did, he had to do a little circuit of his bag and trolley before moving on.......hilarious at the time, but it mentally crippled him

Until Sunday I wouldn't have said this was a superstition but I always have to start the round with 8 long tees and 4 broken tees in my pocket. I've never thought too much of it until Sunday when I only had 7 long tees in my bag and I couldn't help but go back to my car to get some more.

I have no idea why I chose 8 & 4 but I've been doing it for years so it's become a bit of a habit.

As I have no luck on the course, maybe id best aquire a couple of superstitions

maybe carry Imurgs shriveled left testicle in my bag

I know we'd have to find it first

Fragger :-)

Not sure its superstition or not, but I have used the same ball marker since last June, 20 cent Irish euro, was given to me by the fella caddying for me in a match and putted well since, so I am loathe to change. I also keep my sweater on if swinging well even if it gets too warm, not because I feel superstitious, just because I think it will affect my groove or tempo :)

I think they're superstitions and the sort I get into my head for sure. Nothing "damaging" though so long as the Irish don't need that euro back to pay off a debt or two !

I kiss a key ring of homer Simpson with a pink hair bobble tied to it that my daughter gave me. Also my son and daughter sprinkle pretend fairy dust over me before I leave the house. ( they are 4 and 2 years old!!!) more of a routine rather than superstition!

not a superstition for me but i feel really uncomfortable if i play without my cap or without my cycling shorts on underneath my trousers. I always make sure they are looked out first when im getting ready cos otherwise i know that ill feel uncomfortable all way round.

When I played football I always used to put my left shin pad on, then right shin pad and sock and then left sock! The only golf superstition I have is to use a matching ball marker and pitch mark repair tool. I have 3 sets that I keep in my right pocket when I am playing.... Not that it brings me any luck whatsoever!

Considering all the crazy arse superstitions my mother has in general I'm amazed I don't have any. Unless having the manufactures name on top of the ball when I tee it up counts?
