Hi All,

I am interested in opinions from people using the Super Stroke putter grip. I picked up a very cheap putter in the pro shop this weekend and it had a Super Stroke on it, it felt really great, later in the weekend I had described it to my bro and he went and gave it a swoosh and agreed with me.

I do not consider that I have a problem with being too wristy with my puts but it seemed to activate this very natural putting stroke.

If you have one how are you getting on with it, does it feel strange with bar putters? Does it make the handle feel heavier?

My only real reservation is putting it on my beautiful Scotty Circa 62, they have made the Super Stroke so ugly! Its like putting aftermarket alloys on a Bentley...

How you getting on with yours? Dropped your putting average?

Thanks

Alex

my mate got one (about the thickness of a coke can) and he loves it....putting for him has been much better. Only downside is it doesn't fit in his bag!

Ha, I did wonder about that... Ye its the thick one that interests me.

Whilst it feels great in the hands, I found the downside was that you lost all feeling of the putter head. It felt very dead. I've currently ditched my putter with it on for the time being as my putting is atrocious!

Spooky.

I'm going to be writing a review, with pictures, tonight when I get in.

I had a Superstroke 2.0 fitted early last week.

I went to see my pro regarding the grip on my putter. Not to take my wrists out of the stroke (That's what my V-Easy's for :D ), more of a comfort issue as I feel the stock Pistolero grip on my Del Mar is too small. My hands aren't the biggest, but I do have quite long fingers. We tried a few grips, none of which I liked (...Too soft). Moved on to the Superstroke range, which have a really nice texture to them but don't feel as soft as some of the Winn grips.

Tried a 1.0, this was a little too small. Tried a 2.0 and found it much better. Tried a 3.0 which was OK, if not a little big, and then tried the Fatso, just for a giggle.

I also tried their new Flatso grip, which is effectively a Fatso, with a flat front as oposed to round. Didn't like that at all.

My pro has a 2.0 fitted to his Ping Anser, and they had a Scottsdale TR with a 3.0 on the seconds rack, so I grabbed both and headed over the the practice green to hit some balls.

The 2.0 is lovely. Nice texture to the grip with the size of the grip fitting my hands nicely. The Non-Taper design of the grip seems to suit how I putt and seems to have helped reduce a little grip pressure. I seemd to putt very well with this grip. The thicker grip didn't seem to imapct on getting a feel for the pace like some bigger grips do. This could, again, be down to the non- taper aspect of the grip, although I'm not sure on that.

Moved onto the 3.0 and wasn't as pleased. It feels a little bigger in the hand and I had an issue with judging the pace of putts. I also lost a little feel and began to leave putts quite a bit short. The grip is still non-taper, the same as the 2.0, but feels a little cumbersome in the hands.

I tried a Fatso before but that had absolutley zero feel to it and felt like I was holding a cricket bat  . Not for me.

In the end I opted for the 2.0 and had it fitted on the spot.

As for putting since I've had it fitted. Well, the 2.0 hasn't affected my 'feel' for a putt, which mirrored the results of the trial. I can still judge pace pretty well and my stroke feels much more consistent, probably due to the improved grip pressure. When playing last weekend, my putting, both line and distance was spot on.

So far I'm very impressed with the Superstroke 2.0. What I would say, Al', If you're thinking of getting one is try the entire range, if you have access to them. The bigger they get does, IMHO, impact on your stroke. If you have big hands, a 2.0 or 3.0 may be big enough, but from my experience, I wouldn't go any bigger.

Nice one... the upshot of that is that as you say, I clearly need to go and play about with them. I have no idea if i tried the 2 or 3?!

The 2 is still much fatter than a regular grip ye?

Anyway thank you for your input, I shall go and play, shame they are so damn ugly. Can you still get the putter in your bag?

With a large amount of one putts yesterday I should leave well alone but I am intrigued....:o

If they have stock of the 2013 grips, the number is on the side of the grip. Details on the grip number vs thickness is here:

Quite a bit bigger Al'. As I said, they also don't taper towards the bottom of the grip so are a consistent thickness top to bottom.

I have a Muzuno MP stand bag, with their divide and slide top. Fits in there no issues. I just have to be careful taking it out as there is a small lip and because the grip doesn't taper (Flat bottom) it can catch on that.
