My golf sunnies didn't make it back from Portugal so I am looking for a new pair. Anybody got any recommendations? Budget £100-150.

Anything Oakley

I have a pair of Sliver and Half Jacket 2.0 XL's and I wouldn't have anything else.

If you can get a pair with the new Prizm lenses (I have grey and blue iridium's respectively) I'd opt for those. They're fantastic!

Oakleys are great and look fantastic and I have had a few in my time, however the frames will last a lot longer than the lenses I can guarantee that.

Don't clean them with anything but the cleaning bag they come with either.

Is the G30 a golf specific lens?

They are not golf-specific. It's a rose tinted lens that lets about 30% of the visible light through. Good for bright but overcast conditions as they enhance contrast. The golf specific lenses are the new PRIZM ones. I have a pair of Half-Jackets with them for golf and they are very comfortable. You can switch the lenses out with the Half-Jackets so you can match the lenses to the conditions.

Oakley will replace the lenses for around £40 ish. I had a £200 odd pair run over by a lawn mower and the frames were mangled, and the lenses scratched. Still only cost £40 odd to fix (replace!). Oakley have excellent after sales service, unless the glasses are too old to fix, when they offer you new models at pretty much cost price.

Prizm are not golf specific lenses. Most oakley glasses are available with prizm. They are saying they're best suited to bike riding. i personally own 2 sets of prizm lenses and they are no different from polarised lenses

seriously ,you blokes waste over a ton on a pair of sunglasses ,if mine cost more than a fiver i feel im being ripped off. and they are polarized.

Here here, more money than sense. My clubs didn't cost that much, and I am not joking either

I have three pairs of Oakleys - two pairs are ten years old and another is 7 years old - still as good as they were when first purchased and the lenses and the quality of the make are worth the purchase price.

Buy cheap buy twice
