Me and my old man like to squeeze in a few golf breaks each year to experience what other courses have to offer

We are off to La Manga in April for a few days but are looking to book a Sunday driver deal before hand

We are based in Lancashire so have previously played a few of the courses up this way (Bolton PGA, Carden Park, Heaton Park, etc)

We aren't too fussed about staying "local local" but don't want to be travelling the length of the country

We have seen a deal at Celtic Manor which is £119 per person for dinner/B&B and 2 rounds

It appears to be a similar deal at The Belfry but I have no knowledge of those courses, just aware of the obvious historical value of both

We are both 18 handicappers but like playing interesting courses (plenty of water features, challenging par 3's, etc)

Given we would be staying over for 1 night, it is pretty important that the on-site facilities are decent (nice restaurant, club house, etc)

Any recommendations would be greatly received :D

I'm heading up to Formby Hall in Feb for 1 night, 2 rounds, and it's only cost me £89 pp. That includes the golf, the hotel, a 3 course meal and a £10 bar tab, so it's a ridiculously good offer at a club that has very decent reviews.

Belfry is fine for that, food ok bar not cheap like most chains that would offer it. At 18 handicap you could do pga and brabazon and skip the drby course.
Formby is a good shout I'm considering it.
In the winter you can get some good deals sub 200 for st andrews 2 nights 3 days breajfqst and lunch vouchers in. Pay a bit more and carnoustie do a country deal at about 200 plus accommodation.
Others would be firest of arden and most de vere or narriott chains as theyvall want to fill hotelnon sundays, a friend went to celtic manor and loved it.

Depends how far you want to drive.....within a couple of hours of where you are I'd recommend hill valley, hawkstone park, wychwood park, belfry. My own personal opinion would be that you should get in touch with Silloth and find a nice b&b and play 2 rounds there. Or head out to Anglessey and play Conwy, Bull Bay, Nefyn etc. again, you will need to find a nice b&b but I bet it would cost you the same amount and the courses are much much better. Good luck with your search 😄😄
