Hi - I've really struggled over the weekend with getting sunburnt. Although I've applied sun cream before the round I get quite hot during and either the sun cream runs off or is wiped away. Now clearly I have tried applying more throughout the round but it leaves my grip oily and wondered if anyone can recommend any they use?

Have you tried this site? I can't say if it is any good as I tend to brown in the sun and don't bother with cream.

Have you tried P20? Apply In the morning & your good for the rest of the day. I've used it in really hot countries & never had any problems.

Where are you getting burnt?
Head:, wear a hat
Arms: factor 50 or emulsion paint
Back of neck ? As above
Face : factor 50 as above

I'm a slaphead and find factor 30 is pretty good, but depends on your skin type, it's bog standard Ambre Solaire

Tip
Try not to wipe your forehead with your hands :)

We're lucky that the ninth hole at my course brings you back to the clubhouse and locker room. Usually enough time to add some more on and wash it off thoroughly in the loo before playing the 10th

The key is to apply it early in the day (I usually do it first thing) and then again shortly before you are due to tee off to allow both 'runs' to sink in properly. I have Banana Boat Ultra 50 which saw me through a week on the beach in Miami and is more than enough for 18 holes of golf and the customary pint on the balcony.

A once a day cream that you put on 15 minutes before going out in the sun although depending on how much you burn they may have to be applied more than once a day. I'm using Calypso bought cheap from Home Bargains and it's not at all sticky.

The wife bought some deadsea spa magik sunsafe factor 50, which I used once then stole! It's superb. Dries almost immediately, non-oily, one application lasts 8 hours, and really protects. It won't promote a tan particularly, but it will mean you CANNOT burn!

I just frazzle, and then turn brown. I hate sun tan lotion. Greasy muck.

Last time I played in Florida, I played with a scratch golfer, who plays locally every day. He wore a wide brimmed hat, long trousers, and long sleeves, in 90 degree heat. His view was, it's safer to cover up.

Another shout for the Sport Banana Boat Spray Sunscreen (proper spray and not a silly pump action so it goes on easy) and because its a spray you get very little on your hands except when applying to face etc (I find an ice-cube from the cool-box on the golf buggy washes it off your hands quite well)

Is that the Ultramist spray which was recalled a couple of years ago?

Not sure if the Sport flavour was included in it but yeah same company I believe ( I have no proof but was it linked to a couple of folks catching fire although I wonder if they might have been smoking when applying the sunscreen?)
