Just a quick update for all those interested re: the summer rates debacle @ Rudding Park.

The manager got in touch with me and without any prompting gave me the reason behind the cock-up (hotel chain e-systems marking Easter as summer) and that the staff wouldn't have been able to do anything about it anyway. Then went on to offer me and my playing partner a free round at our leisure i.e. no expiry on the offer.

All I can say is fair play to them. I would have been quite happy with a refund to the amount extra we paid, but he's shown that golf is still a game run by and for ladies and gentlemen. I can now look forward to another round away from home whenever it suits me and my mate and I will cheerfully tell everyone that Rudding Park came good.

Well done them and just goes to show the power of polite complaints, backed by the muscle of psychotic GM forumites!

Bet you feel the same as when you've holed a birdie putt from 35 feet?
Well done, you don't ask you don't get.

Result.....the course has just ticked all the boxes for me. They give you a fair (or more so!) resolution and we can all put it back on our list......makes good business i.m.o.

Thats pretty good of them. You might want to write a letter or give GM a brief e-mail with the problem and resolution for their letters page. Would be fair to the course to give them some decent publicity if they publish it
