Playing in our summer madness comp this Saturday. Tee off shotgun start at 04:45... Means I am getting up at 3am to get there in time!

We pay £10 each in a team of 4, and it is the 2 best stableford scores multiplied together. there are a few decent prizes and we get breakfast thrown in. Quite a good laugh, albeit stupidly early.

Anyone else play in any stupid comps this summer?

I have just seen the start times for the East Devon 4bbb I have entered and found out my tee time is 2.12 complete madness as I cant remember the last time I teed off after 8.15am

We have one called the Dawn Chorus, with a 6.30am start, late compared to yours.

Wish we did something like that. We have an archaic rule that there is no golf at all allowed before 7.30am in the Summer and 8.00am in the Winter .

Assuming that's so the greenkeeper can do his stuff, but in the summer it's already been light 3hours by then.

Because we have houses along one side of our course, we are not allowed comps before 7:00am.

Sounds a great idea though and would certainly appeal to some.

We meet at 06:30 every sat and Sunday and then go out - no comps until 07:00 as you need to give the greenkeeper time to get the course ready for play

Unfortunately the houses are in range of bad slices of the 1st and 5th Tee and we have a bell on the first, as they are Council Houses, a few years ago the time restrictions were served on the Course by the Council, even though course is private, totally agree it's stupid and we've tried to have it lifted,
