I am seeking a golf course and accommodation to host the third annual Colours Club trophy. Last year we visited the Rolls of Monmouth playing two rounds and staying in a cottage onsite. In an ideal world we are looking for something very much in keeping with last year, any suggestions would be greatly welcome. Thank you in advance.

Depends on what you mean by keeping with last year? Are you restricted by location?

My stock answer is Woodhall Spa, magnificent courses, try and get yourself an early tee time for The Hotchkin, we teed off 8.30 am and nearly had the course to ourselves as no one in front or behind. And stay at The Petwood Hotel, get yourself down to the snooker room, get some real ale in from the bar, switch the massive TV on and base yourself there for the evening. Marvellous.

We are looking for a location between London and Bristol, a maximum 2hr drive from both.

Is East Sussex National too far? Great hotel, two good courses and overall a very good experience.

Also depends on the kind of cost you're looking at but ones in hitting distance could be: Belfry, Stoke Park, Forest of Arden, Celtic Manor, Woburn, St Pierre.

Except that none of those are between London and Bristol.

Well only Celtic Manor is outside if you want to be pedantic about it and drew a line due north from Bristol and London, but it's still within 2 hours drive of both places as is Arden and the Belfry, which does fall within the boundaries of Bristol and London.

Bowood?

The one off Junction 18 (I think) of M4.

Nice course. On site accomodation expensive, but villages nearby.

Frilford Heath would be a good choice.

It's just outside Abingdon and so would fit in for travellers from both London & Bristol. It's got 3 great courses - red, blue and green and they seem to be going out of their way to attract visitors.

I've played both the red and blue courses and they're both top notch and they are hosting the English amateur championship next week.

Take a look at their website where they give lots of recommendations for accommodation for visitors - from on site cottages, local B&Bs and hotels - http://www.frilfordheath.co.uk/

The Oxfordshire might also be suitable.

Often does pretty good deals too.
