I wanted to try a jumbo grip but didn't want to 'spoil' my taylormade putter if the experiment didn't work so I've dropped my previous Bear Claw blade back in the bag with a nice jumbo Winn grip on it and it'll stay for a month or two to try it out

My problem (& one of the reasons I bought a TM smoke) is at least 4-5 times per round (every round) I will get severe sun glare from the top ridge of the putter head

I've thought about just taping it but that will look naff, matt paint might look better but basically I'm asking for suggestions of ways to mask the top ridge and prevent sun glare distracting me when putting?

Thanks in advance

How about hitting it with some wet n dry paper. Get a nice brushed finish on it then. Will still look factory finished but won't bounce the sun back up at you.

First of all, apologies if I'm not that sympathetic about it being too sunny in Mauritius. I'm currently sat in my office and I still have my jumper and scarf on

I'd try a bit of black electrical tape first of all, and if that works then I'd hit it with some matt car touch-up paint or a rattle can of Hammerite.

Or sunglasses.

:D

That might work well as a first attempt, will get it ready for painting if it doesn't dull it down enough, ta

Actually there's a good reason sunglasses wont work but I fear now I'd get even less sympathy if I told you.... ah what the heck...

I do wear sunglasses most rounds but need to take them off for putting, reason is its soooo hot that even in the short time spent looking down on the green, the sweat runs along the leg onto the lens and forms a drip right in my eye line!

Incredibly distracting!

My heart bleeds

...So you could paint it, but not use tape. I've also heard that nail polish remover can dull the metal on a lot of putter heads.

Didn't know that about varnish remover, ta

Is there a temporary ban option?

Say 3 months till this place heats up?

Now that's just facetious ;) And while I'm on I need my air-condition unit serviced, it just doesn't cool things down enough, anyone know a bloke! :D

Well I tried the sanding route yesterday and while it took the shine off the ridge it hasn't really cut down the glare

Next attempt will be with a matt finish paint or lacquer

Just have to choose a suitable colour so that it doesn't look like a hound!

silver matt metal paint, applied very thinly.

Now, what is this sun and heat you speak of?

Yeah think you're right, I'd like to get one close in colour to the rest of the putter head but out here I doubt I'll get a match.

I might be forced into a version of grey but I can live with that

As for the sun, its a curse sometimes it really is.... not this week though!

move back to the UK, problem solved;)

Yeah right, the forecast says it'll start raining in Fife in 19 minutes time. Its currently 3° but feels like -4!

The only thing that'll get me back anytime soon is if there's buy one get one free on beef & tomato pot noodles!
