Looking for a golf resort within 3 hours drive of London that has the following facilities:
1 or more nice golf courses
A good bar/sports bar on site (there will be about 20 of us, so not somewhere too formal that closes early etc)

Have been to the usual suspects of Celtic Manor and Belfry (and both still fit the bill very well), but was thinking of trying somewhere different.
Any suggestions?

East Sussex National, Forest of Arden both have 2 courses with a late bar. East Sussex has the overall best facilities as both of the courses are great.

Vale resort at Hensol - just past Cardiff on M4. 2 very good courses and a lovely hotel, even got a spa if that's your thing. Frequented by the Wales football and rugby teams so you may even see a start or two

Herons Reach Blackpool, course isn't the the best but playable but hotel / spa facilities are good.
They did a cheapish Sunday driver deal and bar is open to residents all night .

Only 5 minute taxi ride into town.

Greetham Valley. Couple of hours up the A1, 2 reasonable courses, large bar and Stamford down the road for more nightlife.

Never stayed, but Old Thorns near Liphook is a good shout for a weekend if you don't mind playing the same course.

I'd suggest the South Lodge Hotel and Mannings Heath Golf Club, very very nice course and hotel

Good shout.

Also suggest Foxhills and Woodhall Spa.

Alternatively get yourself down to Saunton and play both courses there and Royal North Devon. If you have the cash stay at the Saunton Sands hotel, or base yourself in one of the pubs in Croyde - great food and drink.

East Sussex National is great. Good facilities, two lovely courses and pretty good value for money.

I like Old Thorns, but it divides opinion on here (just ask Smiffy!).

Forest of Arden isn't bad either, although one of the courses is a bit mickey mouse.

I've booked a golf weekend there next year, not sure if your endorsement of calling the courses reasonable is good or not. ;)

St Mellion is a good resort with top notch facilities. Can normally get a decent deal there, including a round on the Nicklaus and the Kernow.

Depends on when you are going....
Played East Sussex National yesterday and it was very wet in places and we haven't had masses of rain down here.
Fairways and Greens were good, but you only had to be an inch or two off the cut stuff and it was heavy going. Very little roll on the ball, even playing off the forward (white) tees made it a bit of a slog.
I wouldn't venture back there before next Spring.
If it were me looking for a week-end away, I would be heading for the coast to play a couple of links courses, or if I had to stay inland I would be looking for more of a heathland course than parkland.
