Has anyone come across any bargains on sat navs. I'm about to embark on a web mission to get the best deal before going to the Metrocentre for a look at them.

a bonus would be lifetime map updates or live traffic and the bigger screen the better. obviously I know that these things can go well above £200 but I know there are some end of line models etc with higher specs you can get cheaper.

I've been told that Halfrauds (a name taken from my younger car enthusiast days) is probably my best bet but the search starts here

Cheers, kev

PC world has Tomtom XXL classics for £99 atm.

I'd advise going for an older model tom-tom as the new start/Via versions can only be updated via tom-tom themselves. This includes adding comedy voice or car logos.

If you have a reasonable smartphone with GPS, save your money and use a decent map app, like Google maps (free on Android phones). I use the Maps app on my Galaxy S with no problem, here and in the US. Haven't tried Europe yet, but no reason to expect a problem.

I have looked at that one but then for an extra tenna you can get the garmin 1310t with lifetime live traffic which I'm seriously considering

Well get that then. Seems pretty solid, took mine on its first trip to the in laws new caravan this weekend. Didn't case any problems! Plus...you can put your own voice on it so you can annoy the wife and set it to you before she departs :)
