Watching some Moe Norman videos on Youtube got me thinking.

I suppose it's all subjective anyway, but in my opinion Moe's swing looks odd.

If you could change your swing to something that looks worse, but produced better results, would you do it?

I'm sure everyone would do it if it meant they could compete at the top level, but would you do it to shave a couple of strokes off, or to achieve your next handicap target?

I think I'm going to be in the minority but I honestly don't think I would just to lose a couple of strokes.
I quite like how my swing looks. Maybe it shows a huge flaw in my character that I'm at least as concerned if not more about how my swing looks more than where the ball goes.

So, especially the people that like how their swing looks, would you make it uglier to get a couple of shots better?

Results for me mate,it doesn't matter to me what it looks like as long as the club face is square ish at impact eg Furyk not pretty to look at but wins plenty cash, same as Bubba Watson a swing all of his own but it works.

A bit deep for Xmas Day mate have you started on the swally already :)

I have always thought it would be great to swing like Eamonn Darcy or Jim Furyk and knock it round in 4 under like they can. Love to think how all the banter on the 1st as I warmed up would result in dropping jaws as I arrowed it down the middle off every tee and found the flag with all my approaches.

One of my so called friends (after more than a few sherberts it must be said) told me last week that I had ....... "the most inelegant swing he had ever seen on a 5 handicapper".

Am I bovvered? As above, it's not how it's how many.

My own swing is unique and I guess it has done me ok so far. I'd love to firm it up a bit for more consistancy as it is hard to synch all the moving parts together every round. When it works it is good but most of the time I feel as though I'm not quite firing on all cylinders and occasionally it is just rank when the timing is off.

I'm definitely in the results camp though. Been beaten too many times over the years by players with a swing that makes Furyk look textbook.

It aint how but how many for me...some would say just aswell

Says the man who has given me nightmares for the past couple of years. All because he can play a recovery shot out the rough and hit the fairway 230 yards further up the hole.

Sorry did I not mention he was using his driver out the rough :(

Now where's my whale music CD ( creeps back into darkened room and sobs uncontrolably)

Back on track though, its a number on the card not a picture so it's all abbout results.

I have had the ugliest of ugly swings and got the rewards that an ugly swing brings ... zilch!

I have worked to improve my swing and now hoping that my swing is turning into a thing of beauty and will soon reap the rewards that go with it.

No going back to the ugly days for me

Chris

I think I suffer from this around the greeens when I try and play the "pro shot" rather than the percentage shot. I get very frustrated seeing the putter used from 20 yds off the green or the run in from 50 and can't bring myself to use it myself.
I'm trying to make my new year resolution to use the percentage shot, but will probably break it quite early in the year. :p
I'm hope my Xmas dinner is ready soon I am very hungry and have managed to avoid the quality st. ;)

I dont know what my swing looks like cos i've never seen it on video. I cant think it looks too good or too bad really , its just my swing and I couldnt care what it looks like tbh. Its got me this far and I wouldnt change it to make it look better BUT I also wouldnt change it if it got me cut amother couple of shots either.

I'm happy where I am and if I get lower then fine but if I creep up then thats fine too

It depends. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I know what I want my swing to look like, it is just getting it there. When I do, watch this space.

But my point is, would you allow your swing to look horrible (to you) if it got you to 7?

results for me,

I like the idea of gripping it and ripping it, I've seen to many guys over the years working on there swings. I'd give golf up if I tryed to swing like some of the top guys

Look at GMAC's swing, the yanks hate it. Does Gmac care, dont think so.........

how ugly are we talking? i dont particularly care how bad it looks so long as it still appears graceful. take jim furyk and bubba watson as a couple of examples. they may not be as orthodox as rory mcilroy or francesco molinari's but you still think that they can produce consistently decent results. its about what happens rather then how it happens so does it really matter if it appears as crooked as a pensioners back?
