I've been putting like a blind bloke missing a few fingers recently. I dragged out my old battered Dunlop Tour Elite 4 (£14.99 from Sports Direct) and I was dropping my putts within inches of the hole if not in all day long. Stupid game this. The cheapest club I can find and it's going to get a spot in the bag for the foreseeable future!

Same, I have a £100 TM putter and a £26 Golden Bear, both blade style.... its not even a contest which has the better build quality etc but the Nicklaus has been in the bag for a wee while now

A couple of years ago I bought a £15 Dunlop hybrid from sports direct as I wasn't sure how I'd get on with one but wanted to try. Still in my bag now, its a cracking little club

Changing a putter (no matter if it is to a completely new one or reverting back to one you haven't used for a while) almost always seems to work. I think it has something to do with being more aware and maybe more concentrated over the putt. I just talked about this with two of my playing partners last weekend. We compared notes and found that we all have several putters and change between them every few months and each time, putting seems to improve for a while.

I suppose it's the putting equivalent of turning it off and on again.

Probably reduced expectation too. With your more expensive putter you're expecting to make putts, so subconsciously putting pressure on yourself. When switching back to this cheap Dunlop your expectations naturally lower and so not only do you put less pressure on yourself, but your perception will make you naturally feel like you're putting better as you're not expecting to putt well. Therefore this may give you results in the short-term, but long-term, that will plateau as your expectations change over time.

Seem to remember someone winning a major (or big tour event) with an old and cheap putter picked from a barrel in the pro shop. Can't remember who but proves that if it goes in the hole regularly it doesn't matter what make it is and how much you paid
