I played ok golf on Thursday and Friday evening, and so had hopes of a reasonable score in the stableford on Saturday.

Ha!

No chance. Shot a complete rubbish 22 points. Couldn't hit a cows bottom with a banjo.

Now up to 11 handicap.

Played today, pretty much off the same back tees, and shot a 2 over par 74. That would be 45 points off my new handicap, and a new personal record score off the backs.

I so need to sort my head out in competitions!

You and me both.

I've had one buffer this year and 0.1s every other comp.
My average Stableford score this year from Medals and Stableford comps is 28.6

Yes, it's nice to know it's still in there, somewhere.

My 74 still involved a penalty drop on 17 when my rubbish drive went into some tree roots, and a few other minor disasters.

I didn't drive well at all today, in retrospect, but hit my new 5 wood and hybrid really well.

If I could harness the driving from Thursday to the general play from today, I could be on telly.

I'm normally like that but after some good scores in bounce games and nine hole comps I managed to keep it together in the medal on Saturday to shoot 8 over gross 8 under nett.
Hoping this purple patch continues for a while and get a few more good cuts in before the winter.

Saturday was such an odd round. Gross 94 and yet still managed 27pts which included 19pts on a run of 7 holes in the middle. Stupid game indeed.

Played like an idiot yesterday. Driver misbehaving, ball striking appalling, no confidence - just standing over the ball trying to work out how to swing and not having much idea where it might go....

... shot 76, no idea how!

Stupid game.

Oh I wish I could play like an idiot and shoot 76. You have my sympathies, stay strong. ;)

Played horrendously yesterday. Couldn't keep the ball in play on the front 9 a putted awfully throughout. Fortunatly, a torrential rain shower disintegrated my scorecard which I'm very grateful of.

Strangely my approach play was quite good, just the bits before and after piled up the strokes.
