After the dreadfull behaviour at recent demos and the looting back in August, thankfully why did yesterday`s demo end up so peaceful.
Is it because finally our courts have been dishing out proper sentences, or the threat or rubber bullets or the fact that people realised a criminal record can ruin there future inspirations?

Did the anarchists etc. stay away, as I am not blaming students for all the rioting at recent demonstrations (although the knob who threw the fire extinguisher at police clearly was a student) but yesterday proved you can have a "peaceful" march through our capital.

I hope the recent sentencing had everything to do with, and personally I hope we continue in this way!

Probably had something to do with the number of Police assigned to the demo.

I heard a figure on Sky News last night that said it was roughly 1 Police officer per protester.

Everybody should be out on the streets protesting (peacefully) against the Knobs in govenment. Not act like a bunch of sheep. Its disgusting that they dare want to use rubber bullets. Are we going back to the time of "Peterloo" and the like. All the freedoms you have to day some man/woman on the street died, at the hands of the govenment of the day. Read your history and stand up for what is right.

Why is it disgusting???

Its disgusting what the scum of our country have done to it, the heartache and financial difficulties that these people have inflicted on many shop owners by rioting and willfully destroying others property all because of jealousy that they have made a go at life and not sat back expecting to live off of benefits and government hand outs.

I will stand up for whats right DaveM, my rights as a human, my rights to a peaceful life, my right to walk down the street and not fear being attacked by a bunch of rent a thugs, my right to go to my local shops and not find it has been rioted and looted. I pay my taxes for the government (any government whether that be Tory, Labour, Greens whoever) to run the country and allow me to go about my business.

I want the life of me, my family, my friends, every law abiding citizen to be valued and protected. If that means that rubber bullets are given to the police to protect me and my property as well as others then I'm 100% behind it.

The riots were wrong and they deserve what they get. But rubber bullets against peaceful protesters!!!! Even the police disagree with it. Sometimes I think Adolf won the war!!!! As long as you have fat cats and liars running the country. They dont give a damn about you. Touch your forelock and know your place!!

Yesterday was a sad excuse for a protest, half of these kids dont have a frickin clue what goes on in the real world and were only there for a jolly with their mates. These poor wee soap dodging students are the real sheep and need to have a look at other countries where people are protesting for proper reasons.

No one has ever said they would use rubber bullets against peaceful protesters. They are there to be used against non peaceful thugs. People just demonstrating are perfectly safe. Can't see the problem.

I am interested to hear who you think should be governing the country though. Clearly not those who have been elected.

Well said that man.

Craw for Prime minister:)

Sometimes I think Adolf won the war!!!!

I think ultimately the Germans did win - unfortunately Adolf wasn't around to see it.

Oh, and by the way, if you are going to use the plastic bullet or more correctly baton round (rubber went out decades ago) then ram a D cell battery down the barrel - that really livens the feckers up!
