The title says it all really.

im quite new to golf, about 8 months. From several years of quite active cycling.

so I have reasonable fitness and quite strong legs. Though it is amazing how walking the course is so different to cycling fitness.

however I feel as stiff as a plank and weak as a kitten.

I think my average drive is probably getting near 220 now, I get the odd 25 and the occasional poor strike which gives about 200.

aside from golf though I think I’d like to be more supple and a bit stronger.

Any experi3nce of benefits or plans anyone could reccomend?

Lots of stuff online, for free. No need for fancy equipment or joining gyms. Eg. Body weight squats are an excellent exercise and beneficial for golf.

I'd always recommend strength training. Start off with basic compound movements;

Sqaut
Deadlift
Pull ups
Bench Press
Overhead press

For explosive power

Kettlebell Swing
Snatch
Cleans
Medicine ball slams
Box Jumps.

Yoga app lets me pick suitable twisting and bending poses. If I can be bothered to do a 15 minute routine a few times a week I really notice the difference when I'm playing golf.
But I'm lazy and I usually forget.

Try 5x5 stronglifts, it's what I do. Builds a general all round strength by doing whole body workouts 3 times a week.

5x5 Stronglifts
I do 5 x 5 training with my PT
Loads of deadlifts, front squats, lat pull downs, bench press, upper back row (both grips), incline bench press, kettle bells, lat raises, flys, face pulls, straight arm rows, etc
