been blowing since late last night, 70 to 80mph gusts. garden looks like autumn with all the leaves blowing around.

was bright and sunny till half an hour ago now black and hammering it down.

due to get worse as the day goes on.

Just off to Stornoway for the day.... typical

Hector hit anywhere else yet?

Very breezy for Surrey down Surrey way today. The wind whistling around the house this morning as I lay a-bed reminded me of a summer day on Tiree...

And the name of the storm stirred poignancy in my heart as it is my Father's name (and he being from Tiree)

It's a bit blowy here in Newcastle, clouds a belting past, sunny at the moment, got a few plant pots blowing around the back garden and a couple of fence slats came loose which I've nailed back in to place.

Bridge Closed here, I'd be surprised if the ferry is running to Stornaway, though it's heading east so you may get lucky.

Got stuck on the m62 near Manchester for 90 minutes due to a trailer which had blown over. Bit breezy here in Southport but it’s blue skies and sunbathing weather if it wasn’t for the wind.

Gusts are getting a lot stronger now. looking from my home office out of the back gardens, when there is a strong gust, you can see the larger window glass flexing, not be much but you know it is as the reflection in them distorts.

We’re sort of on the edge of it down here in southern Spain. Wind speed of about 10mph and a current temp of 29*. I may need to dig out a jacket..... in November

Stay away from the beach Beezerk, I was there the other week and the beach was rammed with kids. It kicked off between a bloke and a woman, she slapped him and he gave her a proper slapping.,police turned up and gave him a knocking about with the old truncheon. He got the truncheon off the copper and ended up slapping them. Then a crocodile turned up and run off with the sausages.

Obviously not as bad as Oop North but the breeze has blown a heck of a lot of leaves off trees - almost looks like a green autumn in places.
And the long grass has been blown flat - looks very strange.
Dying down now to a pleasant summer afternoon with a gentle breeze to stop it getting too hot:thup:

Luckily no major damage, but lots of large poplar branches down, so it looks like a day with the chainsaw tomorrow!

Oh look Tumbleweed

We're pretty much the same here. We had some work done to the roof and gutters of our big sheds the last week in April and there hasn't been any rain since to see if the leak has been fixed!

I played Monifeith on Tuesday and I haven't seen grass that burnt since the summer of 1976. It was so bad you couldn't define the fairways. I checked the Carnoustie webcam this morning to see if it is the same for the Open, but it looks like they've had the sprinklers on. Shame!

The Troon courses were well burnt when I passed them last week.
Not much green on my village bowling green but it is running true and fast.
